How early have YOU gotten a guarantee?

I just spoke to RC regarding prices on a suite guarantee cabin for a couple of cruises in July '11. She said that none were available yet, and if they were to become available, it would be 4 or 5 months before the cruise.

 

Is this what you who have done guarantees have experienced?

 

What's the earliest I should try again?

Earliest I've seen a guarantee was 9 months out, but usually it's been around 1-2 months out. Some cruises have never offered guarantees or only in certain categories.

We got a guarantee for our November 2009 cruise back in July 2009...so 4 months out...we were even assigned our room before final payment and got a hump balcony.
