AZNative2000 Posted August 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2010 Have one of thoes balcnonies on the Oosterdam that is a corner and so part of it is exposed to the sea-anyone know if it's windy? If you are in one of the SC Suites with a wraparound you will have a breeze on the side part while the ship is moving but the stern part will have calm air. We loved ours! cruisinjudy Posted August 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2010 These cabins are great. We had an SB corner and they are just as AZNative said. The aft facing part of the veranda is blocked from the wind.
ariawoman Posted August 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2010 I'm confused if the OP is referring to a wrap around AFT cabin, or one of the handicap cabins that are located in the 2 areas that "stick out" on the vista and signature class ships. It might be beneficial if the OP clarifies.
cruzrmomma Posted August 11, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted August 11, 2010 It's just a balcony stateroom (deck 4), but it's a forward facing balcony, so I'm worried about the wind. It looks like it faces the lifeboats, they are a few cabins away. thanks

Presuming you're either referring to the handicap stateroom or the one adjacent to it on either side? If you're unsure, here's a deck plan. http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HAL/Oosterdam/Oosterdam-Compare-Stateroom-Decks.jpg

t'knight Posted August 11, 2010 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2010 We were in a corner suite on the Oosterdam (Rotterdam deck - SB7088). It was a terrific choice. You not only get the view along the side as in any cabin, but you get that view along the side of the ship as well. Yes, it was breezy at times, but it was also a literal rush to be flying along the ocean as we were underway. I also really liked the location, as it gave you access to an almost private bank of elevators aft so to speak, and a reasonable walk to the Neptune Lounge forward. We had a port cabin, so we had the added advantage of having the shore side in our sites for the entire voyage as well as great views when in port. Best cabin on the ship in my opinion other than the Penthouse, and you get the same vantage points.
