Buying Cruise as a Gift, can we prepay shore ex?

We're sending our folks on the POA for their 50th Anniversary and want to prepay as much in advance as possible. It looks like we can prepay gratuities-is there any way to pre pay Shore excursions or alternative dining? If this is not possible, what about pre purchasing on board credits for them?

Thanks for any info-we've not sailed on NCL yet so this is a new system for us.

I don't think you can pre-pay shore excursions, but what you can do is buy OBC as a gift for them. Then they can use it for Shore Excursions, specialty restaurants, spa treatments, etc.

That is correct. You cannot prepay shore excursions, dining, etc. However you can pre-purchase OBCs which can be used toward those expenses.
