things to do in San Juan PR

Hello all,

my first time posting. Wish I had found this site before we started cruising, but hey all of our cruises including our next one have been on Princess and we've had no major complaints.

We're cruising out of San Juan this winter and would like to know what sort of inexpensive, preferrably free things to do in San Juan before we board...

thx

If you have a National Parks Pass be sure to take it along for free admission if you do it on you own. Admission might be included if you take a Princess tour but it's easy to do on your own schedule & still have plenty of time to walk around shopping. There is also a free bus to get you to El Moro & another one to shuttle you between to San Cristobal. They're not the fastest since the traffic slows than down quite a bit but it's still better than walking in the hot sun.

This is one of the best kept secrets and only a 35 minute drive from San Juan....

Hi blurayguy, We are staying at the Marriot Stellaris resort casino in SJ for a couple of days pre-cruise in Febuary. There is a lot of good stuff in the ports section you should check out. Old San Juan is the main thing on my agenda. Otherwise we will just be chilling and getting into that cruisin' frame of mind. Enjoy! :)

I have lots of photos of both Forts and the rain forest in my cruise galleries.

Just click below on Grand Princess for Fort photos. Also, click Seven Cruise Photo Galleries and then on the Westerdam for Rain Forest photos and more of the Forts. Enjoy!!

Cheers, Denise

We took the PR shuttle buses that run back and forth to the forts , or San Juan , etc. it was convient to the port and easy to manage, just a caution it does get busy and some times busses are full, but we loved the forts and strolling around San Juan. And yes remember your National Parks passes it helps out, we forgot ours. We had a nice day in PR, enjoyed it.

Last time we were in San Juan we went to Fort El Morro. Outside of the fort the locals fly kites and it was interesting to watch as many of them are very talented kite fliers. We ended up buying a kite from a vendor that did no cost that much and flew it for about an hour or so. It was a blast and when we were finished we found a family with children and gave it to them.
