gschwartz001 Posted August 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2010 My DH and I are looking at the Serenade for a B2B next summer. We were on the Serenade last December and had a fantail D2 with the large balcony. We loved the ship and the large balcony, but found it to be especially hot on the balcony since it had sun all day. I am curious to hear if the size difference is significant between the D2 and the JS. Also, if I can get a D2 with an extended balcony is that just as good? I know that a JS does not get the suite amenities so I am not sure if the additional space is worth an extra $600 per week. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. It wouldn't be worth $600 a week to me, but I don't know your financial situation. Some JS advantages: They are appreciably larger than D cabins. Bathtub (i.e., larger space for showering, even if you don't take baths) Two cruise credits per cruise - on a B2B, that would be 4 cruise credits when you disembark. There are JS cabins on the aft, so you could have the best of both worlds. :)
Rare lv2cruisgrl Posted August 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2010 we use to book D1 but then we booked a JS and loved it! I say try it!!:)
gschwartz001 Posted August 16, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks all for the info. I am waiting to book since we have so much time - the aft JS are booked for the 2 weeks so that is unfortunately not an option. We will see what the prices are for the next RCCL sale. I am leaning towards the JS but need to convince the DH who thinks we should use the money for tours. We will see who wins :)
BND Posted August 16, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2010 We booked late for Explorer this Nov because we had another cruise cancelled on us in July and all that was available was balcony cabins so we booked a D2. As soon as a JS became availble we switched to that. We like the space and with the 3 credits we get for a JS and a 12 day cruise, we will have 7 cruise credits after this trip. We like the space and have never stayed in any cabin except but a suite or mini/junior suite.
demodawn Posted August 16, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2010 I agree it what you money is worth to you. I have loved all our balcony and felt they had all the room needed. We have had all types including aft. Just depends. I dont know if I would spend $600 extra but is that per cruise or total? For total go for it!
