Cygneagile Posted August 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2010 Does anyone know if I can charge my Cabin card for Casino playing. I have posted this request on the Casino thread. So far no response. If I need to get more EURO I need to know this.
G.M.T. Posted August 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2010 In the past you could not use your Cabin Card in the casino but could draw money against your credit card for a service fee of 3% (I think). Ron
Cygneagile Posted August 19, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Thanks for the update But I do not thing that would probably not do for me. The extra my VISA bank would charge, plus the exchange rate, plus the 3%. I think I will get more travelers cheques in Euro to be on the safe side. GEORGET Posted August 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2010 I tried this a few years ago by transfering money to the onboard Casino account, hoping to avoid the 3% charge, and pay in local currency. Not only did it not work, the amount i had transfered was in pounds sterling was exactly the same IN euros...a shortfall. plus still wanted to charge the 3%. It took 5 days to sort out. Because of this though they did give me all the transfered amount, in cash on board. Never again, to much hassle. One thing though if you are lucky the ship might have the new one arm bandits that take your Seapass and does not charge the 3%. What you do is max the daily amount in the machine, take the credit as winnings and go to the cage and change it for cash for the tables. Knowing Costa they may have closed this loop hole by now. They have also taken the craps tables out, on the last two ships i have been on. The tables are now, no smoking but not the slots around them. Strange ? Cygneagile Posted August 25, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted August 25, 2010 I know what you mean about taking 5 days to sort out. It is very frustrating to be sure. . I have received an email from Costa Crociere advising me that they can cash travelers’ cheque, without charge, if they are in EURO Otherwise they charge the conversion fee plus an additional cost. The Casino, I believe, is contracted out to another outside company so I understand why Costa does not want to become involved. Although on the RCCL last year the Casino did advance me the money and charged it on my Cabin card but always the extra 3% for the service was charged also. All and all, I am picking up more EURO travelers cheque today at my bank If they do allow me to use my Sea pass and punch in the amount, I may consider and take the maximum for the day. But if they charge me the 3% service charge. Then no way will I give them more money. I am a slot machine person so the tables would not interest me.
