woozlebear Posted August 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Not sure if anyone is able to help on this one............my husband is a keen Grappa drinker [ I hate the stuff:eek:] and would like to visit a distillary when we visit Italy. Any ideas on trips from Rome [port]? Regards Susan
riffatsea Posted August 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Sorry ,not from Rome but from Venice. I took a great day trip to Bassano de Grappa where you can taste to your heart's content(or not)
ab0si Posted August 21, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2010 I am not an expert on Grappa (or jet fuel which tastes just like it <grin>) but all the distillers I know are far north of Rome. I was dragged kicking and screaming for mercy on several such tours. Which leads me to this advice: never tour Northern Italy with a serial killer or a grappa lover. I would think a grappa loving serial killer would be even worse.

riffatsea Posted August 21, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Besides having a great distillery where you can taste, we found a lovely cafe where you got to taste grappa free if you bought ciccetti , (like a small tapas sandwich). I learned that I really liked the aged smoother pale brown type but was silly and didn't buy any. I found that here in the USA it is SUPER expensive!
