How windy is a forward penthouse suite on the Sun?

We are considering a repositioning cruise on the Sun and are looking at different cabins at this point. Question, if we get a guarantee aft mini suite, will we get AT LEAST an AFT mini suite? Other question is how windy is a forward penthouse on the Sun, esp on the Atlantic?

The wind will often be at least as strong as the speed of the ship (ie, 25 mph or so). If the natural wind is from behind the ship, the effective wind will be less; if the ship is headed into the natural wind, the effect will be cumulative. Overall, when the ship is moving, there will be wind. In general, more windy here than on the side or the stern of the ship.

However, the forward-facing balconies on most ships, have a solid metal railing that will provide a wind shadow, for example if you are laying on a lounger, up close to that railing.

Forward facing cabin people want to remember to keep the door to the balcony closed when opening the cabin's "front" door!!

If you want an aft-facing mini suite, then book a particular cabin. The only way that I would use the guarantee program is to book the lowest category of inside cabin in hopes of getting a nicer inside cabin...but, I don't really care about the location of an inside cabin.

We had a forward facing penthouse on the Sun in Alaska and it was great. Granted we were not crossing the Atlantic, but the view from the balcony in Alaska was great. Below the railing on the balcony is solid metal and it's sloped so lots of the wind is deflected up the ship rather than into the cabin. It was nice enough that we were able to enjoy the balcony in Alaska without totally freezing (Late April, still cold). The penthouse on the Sun has one the nicest bathrooms I've seen on any cruise ship.
