Oh dear well for me there is good and bad in all lines.....but you have to see them.......I love all the ships I have been on for different reasons....once we sailed Jewel which is an amazingly beautiful ship to Canada/New England........I would do it again......beautiful....but yes the age onboard was definately older and at 10 after our late seating dinner the casino was dead......but there were several 40-50 somethings onboard that found each other and we had a great time......I have been on Carnival and RCCL all ships and found them fun at times and crazy places I never want to go again at times........Celebrity pampers you...inside cabins have refridgerators, robes, iced water in pitchers......very nice perks.........and the service has always been amazing to me.......but they are quieter...unless you are in the ice martini bar.....that is where you meet the "happening" people for the rest of your cruise...........and join cc and find the folks that meet your needs....my only NOT I will ever do again is cruise in JUNE......TOO HOT and I live in Florida and TOO MANY KIDS WITHOUT PARENTAL SUPPORT....hey I did my time and I taught mine well....I do not appreciate being bombarded by rude mouthy teenagers and even younger.......who knew these children knew these words this young....and I am only 47............

upon doing some research, it seems as if celebrity's loyalty program blows rccl's out of the water. it seems as if celebrity really cares more about it's past passengers.

However that is a recent development. For many years Celebrity's loyalty program was sadly lacking. Many of us believe that Celebrity upgraded its program in order to attract RCI's veteran Diamond and Diamond Plus members who were upset by the many changes RCI made to its Crown and Anchor program, changes which made membership far less desirable. RCI has recently been restoring and adding features to its loyalty program which may make the two more comparable. :)

Which builds on my points. The S class IS the new Radiance class.

When we were on the Solstice 6/13-20 we observed a large contingent of 20ish and 30ish hotties and their bf/dh s. Not something you would have seen on past =X= cruises. And those bikini shots I can't post on the web at all.

So the young 'uns are starting to move to Celebrity.

I hope this is true. Celebrity certainly is spending enough money trying to cater to them. When i was on celebrity solstice, i heard a lot of complaining from the older folks about the new modern style of the ship. I felt like yelling thats because celebrity is trying to attract younger customers, time to move on to HAL!!

Actually, I think =X= wants to keep both groups. In most instances while the young'uns are preening and showing off their toned and tanned bodies on the pool decks, the older folks are busy in the enrichment lectures and the savor programs.

BTW, DW and I are in our late mid 60's and wouldn't waste a minute in an enrichment lecture while the sun is shining and the water is sparkling.

I agree that X is appealing more to the younger demographic in the past. My wide and I are in our thirties and we love Celebrity. While the average age on the X is certainly higher than our RCI cruises, we have found plenty of others in our age as well as enjoyed mingling with people older than us. I do not get people who say the ship is dead after 10pm - I think they are just not looking in the right spots. While there certainly is less to do after 10pm on X vs. RCI, on both my X cruises there were late night spots where people gathered and had fun well past midnight.

Oh my Gonzo, what a Freudian slip.:D

We did not find the average age to be higher on any of our X cruises and like you, found entertainment at night.....even being a bit older than you.;) Entertainment, like food, can be subjective but for those who have said the entertainment on X didn't measure up to RCCL, we didn't see any difference. BTW, a comedian that we saw on X one year who had people howling, was on RCCL the next year.:D

LOL; made to goofs in my post. In addition to calling my wife "wide" (hopefully she does not see that one or I'll be sleeping on the couch) I meant to say that X currently is more appealing to the younger demographic than prior to the S-Class ships being released. Guess I need to work on my proofreading! :D
