barcrab Posted September 1, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted September 1, 2010 Unfortunately, it is the last Sunday in October! How bad is it?
Rare cruisemom42 Posted September 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2010 My sister and BIL faced the same situation when they were in Rome last year. Their options were to go on the free Sunday or not go at all. They went. They arrived pretty early and said the line was already QUITE long. Once inside it was crowded, but they enjoyed it (they did it on their own with a guidebook) except for the Sistine chapel, which was wall-to-wall people. Nebr.cruiser Posted September 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2010 Can you get tickets ahead of time on the free Sundays? We went on a Monday, but we bought our Vatican tickets ahead of time and had no line to get in. It might be worth the relatively small price just to not stand in line, if they even sell tickets those days. Or maybe pay for a guide (we didn't)--perhaps that would work. If you visit the ticket office's website: http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?aaaamm=201010&numeroPartecipanti=2&step=3&action=booking You cannot book any tickets for Sundays Regards HeinBloed
