kiwi sailor Posted September 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2010 United Travel hosted a Cruise Travel Expo today is a Auckland major city hotel. What a waste of petrol and a parking fee to go to it. Half a dozen cruise lines had some tressel tables set up with a few brochures and a couple of pull up banners. The staff looked totally bored and looked like they just wanted to get out of there. There wasn't any effort to make any interested displays. At least Air NZ had a pair of their new seats on display with a hostie in the new uniform. This is amazing that cruise lines would do such a poor job of it considering there is about to be so much competition for our business in the NZ cuise market.
Kiwi_cruiser Posted September 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2010 Were their no talks about different places? Last year we went to the Cruise Expo and they had talks on different places like Alaska, Caribbean, Pacific Islands etc.. And the two talks we went to (Alaska and Pacific Islands) where interesting. if what you say is true, then I am glad we missed it.
thied Posted September 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2010 I think that The cruise lines in australia/nz have become complacent with us cruisers, in the way they think as in cruise lines think that we will cruise on anything and pay what ever to cruise, It like they think they are the only cruise lines around and they dont have to do much to fill there cruise ships, as kiwi sailor said very poor turn out at the cruise expo as in saying she be right mate we dont have to do much to sell cruise as we dont have much competition or who else will they cruise with no one.
