MMJK Posted September 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2010 Hi Guys, Just a quick question, due to work commitments it may be needed to transfer to another cruise, Is anybody aware on HAL's procedure regarding transfering deposit to another cruise? Any help appreciated Cheers Mark
catl331 Posted September 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2010 I'm afraid it's not as simple as a "transfer". You have to cancel the existing cruise, pay the penalties for doing so, and then book another if you so choose. :(
EbayCruiser Posted September 5, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 5, 2010 We've done this several times. If it's before final payment, they just cancel your existing cruise and apply the full amount to your new cruise with a new booking #. You do not lose any money. Now after final payment, that's a whole new ballgame. There will be some fees involved.
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 5, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2010 We have also changed cruises -- several times. Our deposits are transfered over to the new cruise. If is before final payment and we don;t select a new cruise right away, our TA just sees that the deposits are put back onto our credit card -- OR -- if we have future cruise deposits that we bought on board a cruise -- then they got back into our bank. We are fortunate that our TA does not charge a cancellation fee no matter when we cancel a cruise.
Mary Ellen Posted September 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2010 The OP appears to be Australian. From what I've seen here, the Travel Agents have different requirements there regarding cancellation and re-booking. The experiences those of us in the US have had are meaningless for them. Hopefully someone from Australia will be able to help them.
serendipity1499 Posted September 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2010 OP booked directly with HAL for a cruise next March..As long the final payment has not been paid, he should be able to transfer his deposit to another cruise.. Cheers...:)Betty
