Enchantment of the Seas

JS 8172, the most room I ever had. One queen size bed one pull out that was a queen size. Plenty of room to store everything, bathtub, felt the rocking, two lounge chairs, two chairs, two tables on balcony.

Food in dining room excellent, perfect size portions. WJ variety, qaulity, clean, bountiful.

Small casino, sometimes smokey, plenty 1 cent slots.

Thank you!

We have an aft JS booked on deck 7 for our March cruise on Enchantment. We love the aft rooms!

Sorry to hear about the smoke in the casino. I guess they didn't have a "smoke free" night? Sometimes that happens on a cruise.

We saw the Enchantment in port on your departure day. Can't wait to be onboard.

What was your experience with embarkation and debarkation in Baltimore? Did the JS suite guests embark with the suites or other cabins? It seems to vary by port. What was the earliest/latest guests were getting off the ship. How was customs in Baltimore?

Did the ship have a welcome show in the main theater the first night? What time was the show? What time were the evening shows other evenings? Which shows did you like/not like?

About what time did the ship sail under the Key Bridge and Chesapeake Bay Bridges? We've driven over them many times and want to be on deck to sail under them.

What was your experience with seating in the dining room? Did you do My Time or traditional dining? Any suggestions/information on table location for My Time dining?

What sort of activities were available on sea days?

You were sailing during Hurricane Earl. How rough were the seas and how did the ship handle the seas? Any seasickness? We're going north and hope there won't be any more hurricanes heading that way.

Any information you can pass along will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Did you go to Chops? If so how was it?

Did you do a pre-night hotel in Baltimore?

Jimbo:)

I was on the Enchantment in July. Chops was wonderful and well worth the $25 a person. We live close to DC so we were able to drive to the port in about 45 minutes. Lots of great places to stay in Baltimore.

We booked 8672 for next year. We really enjoy them.Would appreicate your thoughts on Samana?

If you are getting off in Samana, take an excursion. Not much to see where they tender you in.

We did not have a good experience. It rained most of the day. Our bus was stopped by a downed electric pole which delayed our return. About 125 people from our cruise were caught behind a washed out road so the ship waited about 2 hours for them to return.

We have gone out of Baltimore 4 times. It is very quick and easy. There is a separate area for suite guests to wait to board. We were platinum with our last crusie so we were able to board with suite guests. I don't remember the time we boarded but we were off the ship by 9:30 and home by 11.

We prefer the traditional dining. My time dining was on the upper floor of the dining room and we were on the lower so we could not see how it worked.

You go under the Key bridge first and we usually would watch that and the Bay bridge a few hours later. I can't remember the times but it was in the first night.

They have trivia, bingo, casino, dance classes. This time they had a lady doing arts and crafts and a man who did some talks on things like how barter. They had movies during the day in the main theatre.

We went through the one end of TS Bonnie. The ship was rocking but it was at night so we slept through most of it.

I've sailed from Baltimore several times. We left at 4 p.m. I seem to recall that the Key Bridge is about 45 minutes after leaving port. You don't want to miss sailing under this bridge. It's something to see! We were sailing under the Cheseapeake Bay Bridge around 6 p.m. just before our early dinner.

Around midnight you'll be able to see the lights of the Bay Bridge Tunnel if you're up that late the first night.

Baltimore does a great job of getting folks on and off. We've been on board most times around 11:30. Once it was later because of a scheduled Coast Guard inspection of the ship. Of course if the ship is late getting back it will be later to board.

Have a great cruise.

Please be nice to me. I know that I scour the threads looking for news about my upcoming cruise and I wanted to share what I could with everyone regarding our last cruise.

We stayed in JS 8670. Left Philadelphia around 8:30, stopped once at the rest stop, some construction and arrived at terminal around 10 am. Not one problem finding the ship since it is on your left as you come through the tunnel, directed to baggage drop off (from your car) and then parking. $15.00 per day, credit card payment. Parked close to terminal, checked in and received boarding number. Boarding does not begin until 11:30 but started about 11:20. Elevator to Windjammer. Lunch was great, sat at pool area until 1 pm when room was available. Dropped off non essentials, walked to dining room and returned to room at 2 pm and our luggage had arrived. Muster at 3:30, short and sweet, went topside for departure. Passed under Key Bridge about 5 pm and then Bay Bridge aroun 6:30. Went to opening show but was really not impressed with the comic. Headed to dinner at 8:30 which is always a little busy, guests trying to find table, new faces and names for servers, etc. Dinner was great (any meal I don't cook myself will always be great,) casino and then bed.

Observations: water pressure is just OK, older part of ship could use some TLC, the pool area is really really nice. Lots of space and lots of chairs.

Day 2: Had breakfast and lunch in MDR, sat at pool, not much sun but still relaxing. Attended the Meet and Mingle, nice job by Royal as always.

Day 3 - Danielle is making this ship rock, bags on all the stair railings, some people moving side to side. Again went to MDR for breakfast and lunch. Had dinner in Chops, always a wonderful experience. We were informed that we were not stopping at St Thomas due to Earl and our next stop would still be San Juan, as scheduled. Ship has finally settled down as we wait for Earl.

Day 4 - arrived at San Juan around 1 pm, very hot. Again, had breakfast and lunch in MDR (you see the theme working here) sat at the pool and had choice of seating since everyone was in San Juan. Dinner at MDR and bed since casino was not opening until late.

Not stopping at St Thomas was a disappointment for a number of guests. The decision not to stop was probably not made lightly by the Captain. Since there were so many excursions available at St Thomas, the scramble was on to see what Samana and Labadee had to offer.

The lunch in the MDR offers a salad bar that is just wonderful. The staff making your salad are so pleasant and just want to please you. Don't miss enjoying this salad bar.

Day 5 - day started out overcast but the sun quickly arrived. We had the beach excursion at Samana and the tender boat took us directly to the beach. The beach excursion had several times listed, with a three hour stay, but we realized later that you could have taken the first tour out, around 9:30 and stayed all day. The water was a little rough, enjoyed looking at the crafts and did purchase some larimar earrings based on advice from previous threads. Welcome back for Platinum, Diamond and Diamond + guests, visited with the Captain, who was very visible throughout the cruise, dinner and tonight the servers dance for us. I have seen this show before but the Enchantment was over the top, the servers so enjoyed entertaining us. It was really good.

Day 6 - Labadee. Since we are arriving a day earlier we are docked with the Liberty of the Seas. There are now 8,000 people on the island and it really was a little crowded. Water was rough because of the oncoming hurricane and it stirred up a ton of seaweed. Buffet lunch was great although very crowded, Royal did its best in serving so many people.

Dinner and more entertainment after dinner in the dining room.

SUGGESTION: take water shoes to all your ports, it is better to have. The same with your seasickness pills, patch, whatever you decide to take in case....it is better to be in front of being sick than trying to catch up.

Day 7 - at sea. The sun is out, it is hot again breakfast and lunch in MDR. The 70's show in the Centrum is scheduled for 10:30 pm and it was terrific. Singing, dancing, guest participation and it lasted for about 45 minutes. I got tired just watching the dancers. It truly was something you want to see.

Day 8 - at sea. Here we go, ship is getting rockier and rockier and by the afternoon, we know that Earl has boarded. Pools are closed, top deck is closed, guests are holding on to the railing and at times, to each other. Lots of empty seats at dinner. This is when you just want to go to sleep and hope that things are steady when you get up.

Day 9 - at sea. Ship is still rocking but settles around noon. Breakfast and lunch in MDR very busy, everyone is in-doors so the shops and casino are busy. Final dinner and again, more entertainment and lots of good-byes to the staff.

Arrived in Baltimore around 7 am, sat in departure lounge until 8:30, picked up luggage and on the road by 8:55 am.

I do have all of the compasses for each day so if anyone has any questions, fire away.

Hope this helps someone as much as someone has helped me.

Great post! I'd suggest that you go to the group thread for the dates of your trip and post as well as that's where most of us have been looking for information.

In the upper left hand corner, you should see Cruise Critic Message Boards. Click on that. It will take you to the main CC page. Find ROLL CALL and you will look for Royal Caribbean. Click on that. Scroll down the page to find your Enchantment trip

Enchantment 8/26/10 9nt

How do I do that? Give me some direction and I will be happy to do so.

Yes, there is a craps table in the casino, there were two smoke free nights as well.

Formal nights were the 2nd and 8th night.

$25.00 bag of laundry started on the 3rd day and ended on the 7th day. You can take advantage of this offer every day if needed.
