I don't know of anywhere in Halifax downtown except perhaps the shops at the pier terminal or the new market next door.

There are great fish eating places along the waterfront in Halifax. I've noticed that the Japanese restaurant advertises live lobster. It is hard to go wrong with live lobster.

One good place is Salty's which is on the waterfront at the opposite end from where you dock. It has good food and a great outside deck for good weather and great views from large windows upstairs.

St. John - Grannan's Seafood in Market Place was really good. I had a lobster roll and my husband had fish and chips. http://www.grannanhospitalitygroup.com/grannans/

Halifax - One of our best meal's the whole trip was at McKelvie's. My husband had salmon that was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth, falling apart awesome and I had fish and chips, beer battered in a local brew. http://mckelvies.com/

St. John's City Market had places that advertised shipping seafood home.
