FAO Belizean Locals?

I'm looking for some information from those living (or visiting long term) in Belize City.

I've been to Belize City twice, and each time I shopped at the flea market (or straw market) just outside the tourism village. Last April, the place was packed with vendors. This past December, there were maybe 10-15 vendors.

Is the place losing it's sellers? Is December just a slow season for the market and April a busier time? (It was the week before Easter when I was there first). Does the amount of ships in port dictate how many people will set up to sell? We were the only ship in port in December, so maybe that's why the few sellers.

I'd like to make a 3rd trip to the market in April, and would love to know what the shopping will be like this time around. The hours will be much earlier than before.

Thanx

LES!
