Lima, peru advice please?

Our Celebrity Infinity will be docking near Lima, Peru. We would prefer taking a taxi from the port to Miraflores to shop in the markets and eat lunch. Where is a convenient spot to tell the taxi driver to drop us off? Approximately how much should the fare be each way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In the Larco Mar shopping center (the driver can drive down inside the parking garage and let you off by the elevator) or you can be let off on the street in front of Larco Mar. GREAT place to eat lunch in the middle of the shopping center on the main floor. You are about 1/2 mile walk from the Indian market and while you are walking to the market, there are many many shops. There is also a Mickey D's and KFC if you want.

DO NOT wander outside the port to get a taxi. Pre arrange a car/taxi or shuttle to pick you up INSIDE the port. There are a few taxis standing by INSIDE the port but they are few and far between and book up fast. The port area in Lima is one of the worst in the city (another one is around the airport). LOTS of scams. Tourists have been beaten and robbed by taxi drivers hailed off the street. DON'T take any chances. I am a frequent business traveler to Chile and Peru and under NO circumstances would I hail a cab off the street at the airport or port (or most anyplace else in South America).

Cost to Larco Mar from the port is about $17-25.00. MAKE the driver run the meter.

Excellent advice in the previous post. When you get to the Lacomer Mall there is a great restaurant in it - Mangos. They have a wonderful buffet lunch that will give you a taste of Peru (loved the chocolate fountain - fresh strawberries and cookies to dip in it!). Google it and you will get some reviews - just make sure it is for the one in Lima. If you have time and haven't seen the historic center of the city it is well worth the visit - it is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
