MDHenson Posted September 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2010 Looking for something fairly inexpensive to do while at Belize. Thinking of taking our own snorkeling equipment, are there any places to snorkel that are close to the ships area? Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. thanks in advance! mpalmer Posted September 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2010 There isn't any place to snorkel in Belize without taking a tour. I've seen them as cheap as $40. You can take a water taxi to Caye Caulker, but that's not something I know much about.... Mona
texancruzer Posted September 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2010 If I were you I would Google Belize and Belize City...... the ship will anchor in a large bay..... on the outside will be the outer cays (they have the gorgeous beaches and reef) and on the inside will be Belize City on the mainland ( a rare treat if you havent been there ) Let me clarify: Belize City is extremely poor and run down and not a place I would do a lot of sightseeing in...... once out of the tourist area where the tenders dock. This is one place you want to "bite the bullet" and do a tour - whether a ships tour or private. If you want beaches and snorkeling you must head out to the cays (pronounced keys) which is about 30-40 minutes by boat depending on which one you go to. Hope this helps.
