SheSailsSeaShells Posted September 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2010 I know this may seem like a strange question but we sleep with a fan at night and have a hard time sleeping without one. Does anyone know if NCL allows a small electric fan to be brought on board for use in the cabin? And if so, should we pack this in our checked bag or carry on? Thanks! Shouldn't be a problem, check it in either bag. :) You may want to pack an extension cord as well, outlets are limited in the cabins. I only remember seeing one in the inside cabin on the Spirit. Micchi Posted September 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Yep... doesn't matter where you pack it but you'll probably want to bring an "extra outlet" plug for it.
SheSailsSeaShells Posted September 15, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Thank you Micchi and Got Tequila! We will sleep so much better with our little fan. And thanks for the reminder to bring a power strip.
dimonzr4me Posted September 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2010 We never cruise without a fan, we just put it in the suitcase!
RhondaC Posted September 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2010 We always bring our little fan with us too - along with the extension cord/power strip. :)
MissRabbit Posted September 15, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 15, 2010 for those of you bringing a fan, is it just for the noise? Aren't the rooms A/C or are they not powerful enough to keep it as cool as you want it?
SheSailsSeaShells Posted September 15, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted September 15, 2010 Thanks Dimonz and Rhonda. I thought I was the only one who packed a fan. :o My Mom and other family think I'm crazy to "lug" it along. But we sleep so soundly with it. It blocks out any hallway noise and it feels nice having the air circulating. Glad to know someone else understands!

Miss Rabbit, I like it for the noise and sometimes the cabin is too warm but also sometimes the room is too cold so we close the a/c vent down and it's nice having the fan to circulate the air some. I.Like.Beer Posted September 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2010 for those of you bringing a fan, is it just for the noise? Aren't the rooms A/C or are they not powerful enough to keep it as cool as you want it? I always bring one for 2 reasons, 1.) The "white noise" helps me sleep. 2.) I like to feel a light breeze on my face when I sleep. :D
MissRabbit Posted September 15, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2010 thanks guys. I have trouble dealing with the heat so i was hoping that the A/C in the cabins were strong enough to keep it cool. I'm bringing a little hand-held battery operated fan for when we're outside or in port. Dang those were hard to find though.

We packed ours twice and will again in October. I'm sure we would not sleep as well without it! :) Enjoy your cruise!!
Ms belp Posted September 16, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 16, 2010 We always bring the little battery operated fans. Creates enough white noise, it's smaller and easier to pack. We also leave our balcony door open. The sound of the waves lulls me to sleep like nothing else.:)
Barb Nahoumi Posted September 16, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 16, 2010 Can the ship supply a fan so you don't need to lug it?
