Koval Posted September 20, 2010 Author #52 Share Posted September 20, 2010 I didn't post the one video I had, as I was waiting for the whales to re surface out a bit away from the boat, one big blur went across the lens of my camera, they were so close to the boat, it was amazing, I stop looking with a camera, and looked for a real life memory, up close and personal. Now off to find some humpbacks, and the rain came down in buckets, 3 of the 4 of us, thought what the heck we will stay up top  as soon as we said, ok enough of that, and went into the cabin, the rain stopped:p While out on the bay, we did see some humpbacks, never as close as the killer whales. One was just there sleeping, I thought Chris was pulling my leg, but yep it was rolling a little this way and that. Now this was when my timing was all off, every time I turned off my Camera, something would happen. Like a sleeping whale, all of a sudden, spouts, and does the whale tail for those who would have been ready. But really how much video does one need of what looks to be a big gray log. I should have known it would wake up :( Oh well, I have that memory in my brain too. we saw a few others a far off, and I did get a video Next Chris spotted a Bald Eagle on the rocks so he headed over in that direction, tried the horn to get it to move, but it was cold wet and not budging and who could blame it. Chris and Moon did a great job... I have no other charter to compare them to, but we all had a good time. And if you can get 6 to go, it is a better deal about $110pp for 2-3 hours We left at 2:30 and were back at about 6...Just in time for Dinner in the MDR

Koval Posted September 20, 2010 Author #57 Share Posted September 20, 2010 The fun times is a bit much to try to copy and paste onto this thread, as it is on a bigger paper than the copier can cover. it would take four copy's to make one fun times, and that is if I take off the daily pocket reminders Not all of mine have them as I used them while on my cruise :D So is there anything you want to know from them? Koval Posted September 20, 2010 Author #61 Share Posted September 20, 2010 We made it in plenty of time for Dinner... Fernando had told me earlier in the day, that even if we got back as late as 6:45, still come and eat in the MDR, and if after 6:45, come to the Late seating, and he will make sure all who come are served. He didn't want anyone who like to do the MDR to have to do the Lido deck if they didn't want to Not to mention he had allot of food to be used by the MDR guests he had to get rid of ;) I had the Mahi Mahi, because I had never tried that, so, while on Vacation, as Stu said, do something you might never do... It was good, had the Bitter and Blanc after, can you say Yum. It stayed hot for every bite too, oh my what a good dessert. By this time I had told Nick about the Banana Splits on the kids menu Look out, he was a happy cruiser, Although the first time, he had me order it, and switch with him, I think that was day 2 of the cruise. What a goof, and I loved the reaction he got from Ivica each night following, but the last night of the cruise Ivica, has he was taking the dessert orders, just looked at Nick and said "Banana Split again" with a smile and a wink. Koval Posted September 20, 2010 Author #63 Share Posted September 20, 2010 The evening of Day 3, Juneau we had our dinner in the MDR they put on a pretty good show in there too, but off we went to see the 2nd comic on board JeRome, or some silly spelling like that... Again we went to the Family show... He was very good and very funny, just ask the lady in front of us, OMGoodness could she laugh. That was funny all by it's self. But really, he was really good. I think he is suppose to be in an upcoming Nicholas Cage film. That brings day 3 to an end...we went back to the cabin, Nick fell asleep, and I took a few notes, so I would remember what to tell all of you... Is there still anyone reading this review? No matter, I am enjoying the memories...
Koval Posted September 20, 2010 Author #64 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Yes, it was a Glorious day in Glacier bay... It was Now I will confess, I wish I wasn't born and raised here in Oregon, here in the Great NW, (only for the day) Do not hear me say Alaska is anything but BEAUTIFUL, She is. But the awe and wonder you saw and heard from others who have not grown up in the Beauty of the Great NW, was Great Much like wondering Just how delicious the Desserts would have been if I had been hungry when they were place at my finger tips, I can't imagine just how "GLORIOUS" Glacier Bay would have been, if I were to have come from some other part of the world, or even some other part of the USA. Breath taking none the less, If I were to do it again, I would go in the Spring, as to see the mountains covered in blankets of snow, to make it a bit different than the Beauty I am surrounded with every day here in Oregon. Much of our cruise, I felt I could have been viewing my own beautiful state. Nothing wrong with that either, you all should come and see the beauty of Oregon, and the NW. ajhunt2 Posted September 20, 2010 #68 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Are you doing the Mexico Cruise, that was my first cruise and it was on the Spirit, I fell in love with Cruising, and the Spirit was just as nice this time around...If you can get Table 237 or 238, you will have the best waiter on the ship Ivica, was such a great guy, we LOVED him You will also see him on the Lido deck at 6am... Ok I only know of two on the ship this time, but I don't know the #'s of Ramona's Tables, we had her on the Dream, also one of the best. I think he will actually be leaving soon. Matt and Sally talked to him a lot too and they said he and his wife's first baby was due soon so he was going back home to be with her.

Yep, he told us too, (Maybe a touch of Proud papa) he and his wife are due the same time as My Grand baby... I think he has a month or two to go on his contract, so he may still be there for some of Mexico

Koval Posted September 20, 2010 Author #73 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Day 4 Glacier bay, Got up early, just in case...Didn't want to miss anything you know. This would have been the Day I "SHOULD" have had room service delivered to the cabin... It was a Beautiful morning and a Beautiful day. Woke up to Sunshine, after Juneau Being so wet, and knowing that the 10 forecast the day before we left, said solid rain or showers for each port we were to visit... What a nice surprise... We had surely over packed, as it was sunny and cold, but no where freezing like I would have expected. Jacket, Hat and gloves YES, 4 layers of clothing, NO... I was over heating out there in that sunshine. And if you can believe it, the water slide was open for business... I thought about it, but my 52 year old mind kicked in, and told my 12 year old self, NO The water on the slide was warm, but getting in and out was going to be Killer, so instead, I just took photos from up there, and asked the Crew member if anyone really had done it, and yep a couple of kids did. I bet they were 12 :D

It is hard trying to get the Photos uploaded, and all if it were just words I would be done. but words do not do it for Alaska! You can see the photos a ton of them on my FB page. Here I am trying to just pull out the best shots and one or two videos. But they take for ever...
