zbxb006 Posted September 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2010 I have a balcony guarantee for an Oct 10 sailing on Victory. No cabin has been assigned yet. Carnival has been elusive on when they will get around to assigments, saying it could be as late as the day of sailing. So, what has been your experience? I have seen Carnival quoted elsewhere saying they assign cabins 8 weeks from sail date, but that obviously isn't true.
pjtulsa Posted September 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2010 We sail on the 9th and some of our Roll Call members rec'd their assignments last week.. As Carnival has told you, you may not know until you check in at the port. There have been many posters that have said that to be true. I guess you just have to keep your fingers crossed and hope for an incredible upgrade:D
bettysuetraveler Posted September 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2010 basically the day of sailing in my experience. i will say though, it could be the day before b/c i am too busy to try to check cabin assignments. i just like to think of it as an added supprise for the cruise. pjtulsa Posted September 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2010 The site I just checked is only showing 8F cabins still available on decks 10 & 11... that may or maynot mean anything as your cabin may have already been pulled from the inventory and just not posted in your account. boaterette Posted September 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2010 I use a TA when booking a guarantee and have always been assigned right away. Not sure why that is though.
luckycruzer Posted September 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2010 of 29 CCL cruzes..about 75% cabin # immed.. (G'tee), 5% wait n see, 20% ugged.(mostly after I became Platinum, now I'ze Milestones...recently,I was 10 min from port. Sometimes I just get the surprize when I check in. Seems my good luck omen is to print bag tags early, and whoops..it gets ugged..usually to a OV 2 lower. I'm not picky , just gimme a tikki :D.. *Mach* Posted September 19, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2010 The earliest I've gotten a cabin assignment was 76 days... the latest... 6 days... Yep... it happens that you may not get a cabin assigned 'til you reach the port. :)
jetskier Posted September 19, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Usually 60 days out is average, once final payments are made and inventory can be adjusted and maximized for revenue. Dave
Djptcp Posted September 19, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2010 DH and I have only done a guarantee once and we did not find out our cabin assignment until we reached the port. The porters have manifest lists and ours looked up our name and we put the cabin number on our luggage tags. No hassle at all.
