sungirl10 Posted March 11, 2011 #26 Share Posted March 11, 2011 I am in my 30's and went on my first cruise and went solo in February. I loved every moment of it and would definitely do it again. I met some fantastic people to hang with on the cruise and even a few I will stay in touch with. So my advice to anyone who is afraid of going on a cruise alone don't be you will have a great time, and remember everyone is on the cruise for the same reason which is to get away and have a great time! :) i so can't wait to plan my next one!!! oregonweim Posted May 30, 2011 #27 Share Posted May 30, 2011 (edited) I'm divorced, 39 going on my first cruise in two months (Sea Princess to Alaska). Now I'm going to escape from 60 hr work weeks, am certainly not going to look for a soul mate but do intend and being myself (friendly, social) and having a good time. I do plan on seeing what type of solo/single cruising options there are out of SFO, LA moving forward. Edited May 30, 2011 by oregonweim
RollTideRollRich Posted May 31, 2011 #28 Share Posted May 31, 2011 about the idea of cruising alone... Here was my take on that subject a few years back. Posted this on anothere site when this topic came up . I cruise alone all the time well... I took two women with me on sepreate cruises and both ended up the two worst cruises ive taken. Couldnt stand the complaining ...like "i dont want to go to the casino" " i have to do my hair and make up i'll be ready in an hour" "we have been sitting in the hot sun for over an hour" "sex?.. Now?.. It's only 11:00 am" "sex? ..now?...someone may come up on the deck and see us " "lets go shopping" "it's 10:30 pm lets go to bed" " she's just going to braid my hair ill be done in an hour" "another beer? Youve already had two today so far" "no!! The shower is too small for both of us at once" "i have to make the bed and clean up before the stewart comes" "the topless deck is for perverts" " i look fat in that bikini ill wear this one piece with a cover up" "don't do that here....i think theres cameras in the elevators" " i dont like the way the girls were looking at you when you were singing" " i just want to cuddle" "theres not enough room up there by the port holes to do that" " stop using the mouthwash right from the bottle" the list can go on and on.... Going on my 6th cruise january 25th and going alone... Booked another one for october 13th of 2007 on the liberty by myself as well. There is no words to describe the freedom of cruiseing alone!!! There are plenty of singles on board to play with and dance with then go back to being alone doing what you want to do when you want to do it...this past october on the sensation (4 night)i just didnt feel like getting off the ship at either port so i didnt it was my choice and i had a great cruise just hanging around the ship for the whole cruise...you can do whatever you want !!!! It's a wonderful life...lol do a four day cause the quick three days is just one day too short. Youll just be getting used to it and then it's over...the extra 4th night is just enough, im doing my first 8 day in oct ...just hope i have enough casino money to hold out that long.... Try it alone you'll love it just my experience. lol
Thoth Posted June 4, 2011 #29 Share Posted June 4, 2011 I've been on 12 cruises and just love meeting interesting people. Looking for love ? I suggest to give up such notions. First there aren't many of us single's/solo's on board. Second...most singles are older. last... most singles are like me...just looking to make friends. 2010-T Posted June 29, 2011 #31 Share Posted June 29, 2011 :) Hello everyone! I'm a 30-something guy starting to get back into cruises. If anyone on here ever wants to plan a hang out cruise with a fun single then don't be shy. I'm going on the Monarch this July 22nd with 3 of my old high school buddies! None of the 3 have ever been on a cruise, so it's gonna be a great newbie experience for them. Only 2 of us are single, and the other 2 obviously have cool wives. This topic is great...hope to mingle a little myself (if ever possible). Enjoy your trips!
immy619 Posted August 24, 2011 #32 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Fooey. I'm booked on a Celebrity cruise and was hoping to meet some singles my age. I'm 32. Oh well. Did you do your trip yet? I'll be very curious to get your feedback as I'm considering a solo Celeb cruise myself. :)
caissonqueen Posted January 14, 2012 #33 Share Posted January 14, 2012 I have gone on 3 cruises solo and do not see many single people close to my age. It would be nice to have some companionship while on the ship but I do not seek it out. I will be cruising solo again in less than a month, plan on having fun and being away from work. ;) I do get tired of the comments about how weird it is to see a woman cruising solo.

My name is Wayne and I too am a cruiseaholic You and I have it figured out...I would say. Solo cruising is great ! I get the "why do you cruise alone? " thing also and I reply that I can do it MY way. Talk to who I please, eat what I please, dress the way I please, go on the excursions that I please, sing Karaoke if I please, dance if I please. Being married is compromise, with one partner always doing 75% of the compromising....or so it appears to me. Then again, I don't know anything being single my whole life. KDilly Posted March 10, 2012 #35 Share Posted March 10, 2012 I am 32, single and am going on my First Cruise in 3 days on Carnival Glory, so it does happen, I am hoping to come across some single women also to spend a little time with. never know who, what and where you can meet someone that can change your life, so hopefully it can happen on a Cruise. A cruise is a better place than a bar as long as there are desirable women, you can always go to another bar though haha -KD

If I enjoy this one I think that would be my next choice. No, I've never done a trans-Atlantic cruise, but have considered it. I guess I enjoy my ports of call too much to give trans-ocean a serious consideration. Interesting enough, if I did do a trans-Atlantic trip, I think Carnival would be my first choice since they have so many "fun day at sea" activies compared to Holland America. Thing is Carnival isn't a trans-ocean cruise-line. Edited April 3, 2012 by Thoth
madcat444 Posted April 8, 2012 #40 Share Posted April 8, 2012 I'm travelling as a single this coming week on NCL Jade to the Canaries. I can be pretty shy at first and not really one to approach someone. Once the initial meeting I'm fine :p Hopefully going to try and attend a solo mixer onboard this time. I'm happy in my own company and have cruised a few times on my own before but sometimes think it would be nice just to have some company for dinner etc so we'll see how it goes :)

Vance & Abigail Hello Vance & Abigail ! It is just great hearing from you. Uh..oh ! video evidence !! Just don't blackmail me with my silliness if I ever run for congress...not that I would ever run for congress. It was fun, that was for sure ! You two have a great cruise in January. My next cruise is September, which is Princess to Alaska. I just got off the plane from London with my parents. With the exceptions of the airports and "Tube" stations, we had a blast. party on ! Tarnia Posted April 25, 2012 #46 Share Posted April 25, 2012 I travelled with my parents, but was treated as a solo traveller (as I had my own cabin :) and was on my own a lot) on the Seaboun Soujourn Mediterranean run this past April 6-13. I was invited to a hosting table with crew/entertainment/lecturers almost every night, and really enjoyed that. At lunch, or dinners where I wasn't invited to a hosting table, if I wanted to sit with others, the crew were happy to direct me to a table with people willing to share, or if not, seat me on my own (assuming I wasn't with my parents). There were various events during the day, including golf games, bridge games, wii for the younger members, and lectures. True, most people I met were older than me (I'm in my late 20s) but they were still loads of fun, and I agree possibly more fun and active than some people my own age can be!
scott8815 Posted February 11, 2016 #47 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I took my first cruise solo on the Norwegian Epic solely because they had solo cabins. I'm taking my fifth cruise with Norwegian next month. There are usually two places to dance on Norwegian's larger ships, and I do a MUCH better job of socializing when a dance floor is involved. I'm mid 50's, but I got the youngsters (mid 20's) involved in circle dances, dance challenges (think dance offs) , etc, etc. I suppose to be fair, it should be noted I will get on an empty dance floor by myself if I like the music (Brick House, Motown Philly,Uptown Funk, most stuff by Pit Bull). If you are a solo traveler, don't be shy, get out there. Remember, you will probably never see these people again!

zoncom Posted February 15, 2016 #49 Share Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Solo, Go to any singles events early in cruise.I am now a Senior F, sometimes solo...Still look. There are some really great looking guys hanging out at various X bars, esp. up top forward bar.Every night.Looks like a better quality than say CCL. I would ask whomever you booked with, either TA or line for a SINGLES TABLE. Do it now, before table assignments are set. Have had some great singles tables with people from all over World. Michaelsam Posted March 9, 2017 #50 Share Posted March 9, 2017 I am a 40 yr single male I enjoy cruising also and I enjoy traveling solo to . allows you to meet people . lets chat sometime actually head out on the miracle march 18 I'm thinking about taking a cruise (I've never been on one but travel solo all the time) and I am wondering, do single men also cruise? I am not looking to fall in love or anything like that. I would just like to meet a man I can have fun with while on vacation. Am I likely to meet someone? Is he likely to be in my age range (30s-40s)? I know you can't really say for sure, but I'd be interested to hear others stories. TY Lily
