condomama Posted September 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2010 Hello fellow cruisers, wondering if men need a jacket and tie specifically for the captain's dinners on Scenic spaceships? We're fine dressing casual or 'casually smart' most nights, but Scenic's video sets the stage as being fairly formal on the special evenings. With baggage weight restrictions these days, my husband would be happy to leave these at home if he could...but he doesn't want to feel out of place, either. Thanks. Rare franski Posted September 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2010 When are you going on your cruise?? We will be cruising with Scenic, but not until the spring. If you are cruising after that, I can answer that question later. Hopefully someone will jump in who has cruised recently... I am sure my husband would like to know that as well. Rare LHT28 Posted September 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2010 We recently went to a presentation by Scenic & they did say you did not need to wear a jacket ..a nice shirt was acceptable DH would probably take his blazer ..he just feels more comfortable at dinner in his jacket some nights :D
matilda Posted September 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2010 We cruised recently with Scenic - Budapest to Amsterdam. My husband wore shirt, tie and nice pullover on the two more formal nights, and that was absolutely in keeping with the tone of the evening. Enjoy your cruise! condomama Posted September 25, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted September 25, 2010 Hi, & thanks, we're going in 3 weeks. Based on the mix of replies today, my husband will probably stick with his first 'gut instinct' - blazer & pants, shirt - open neck & use the tie if the evening warrants....it's the good shoes that take up so much room and weight. We get off a little luckier with the great fabrics available to women nowadays, don't we?
Big Al B. Posted September 25, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2010 Based on some tips I got here, I'm getting a pair of black walking shoes and wearing them all the time on our upcoming river cruises. I'm leaning toward just leaving the blazer at home.
