Is the Boardwalk handicap accessible? ===> Yes.

Where do we need to go to start walking on the Boardwalk? ===> Hastings Rocks.

Your best bet for a Boardwalk starting place is the HASTINGS ROCKS(tell your taxi driver)

near the old and disused Caribee Hotel.

There's also access to be gained

from the parking lot at Kentucky Fried Chicken's Hastings outlet

very close to this spot

At Hastings Rocks, there's a newly constructed wheelchair ramp

from sidewalk level to the small park area near the bandstand

although they've not yet made a wheelchair ramp from park area level

up to the actual boardwalk level (about 8 inches)..

..at this very spot, near the bandstand..

..but then nothing's ever perfect is it? so don't expect it to be

since construction/renovation is still ongoing at the moment.

Once you're on the boardwalk surface, you'll be OK and will enjoy its 1.2 km. (3/4 mile) length.

We see wheelchairs along its length quite often, so you won't be the first!

Here's another shot..

you can see the bandstand at extreme left.. (the orange shipping container is now gone)

I've tried to use photos showing the corrugations on the surface, as best as possible.

The hardwood walking surface has corrugations of about 1/2 inch spacings(not that I ever measured it!)

..there for walker's and runner's GRIP.

These corrugations might produce a whirring-type sound from your wheels

-just so as you know it's not a table-flat surface, OK? ;)

I hope this gives you some idea as to what you might expect..

nice seaside scenery, for starters!

How far is the boardwalk from where the cruise ships actually dock?

...and what is the total distance of the boardwalk?

The boardwalk is some 3 miles? from where your ship is docked.

The bandstand at Hastings Rocks is an easy to find starting point ;)

Length of the boardwalk is about 3/4 mile

with Accra/Rockley Beach at its Eastern end

and Hastings Beach and Coconut Court at its Western end.

You might also consider aiming for Coconut Court, start there

and hit the boardwalk from that end.
