Anyone done the Atlantis Submarine Expedition

Hey everyone. We are thinking of doing the Atlantis Submarine Expedition while in Barbados and am wondering if anyone else has done it and if so what did you think of it? Was it worth 99.00? It sounds really neat and definitely something different. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

It's not the sort of thing you do every year.

I've done it twice now, and every time is a thrill. It's airconditioned

and absolutely nothing like what you've seen in grim WW2 movies, believe me.

SUB-692.jpg

here's the sub being towed out to its dive station..about a mile offshore.

Sub-451B.jpg

this happens every morning around 8, while you're still on board having breakfast

-and if you're very clever and 'arrange it' so you're the very last two people down the forward entrance-hatch

you'll get the two seats immediately behind the pilot, so you can see him do his thing

and enjoy a much better front-looking view thru his biiig 6 ft. dia portal!

All I can do for you now is add some photos as attachments (below)

to give you more of a feel for what it's like, out there on the tour.

You get a nice ride out, on their 40ft. launch (and the ride back in)

so that's all part of it too..

As mentioned previously, the actual dive site is about a mile offshore

so you get a view of the island from out there

plus you'll sail just about right past your ship in the Port.

No bathrooms but you take the shuttle to their "store" and are encouraged to use the bathroom there. My husband was thrilled to do this, me not so much. I thought it was boring but he LOVED it. Pictures turn out okay, just turn off your flash.

To anyone who has done this tour. I need some info. Our DD,SIL AND GS want to do this tour. How do they meet up with the boat that transfer them to the Sub. Is it right at the same pier that the ship (Serenade of the Seas) docks at?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I am also interested in where to meet the tour. Is it in the same area that the ship docks or do you have to get a cab if you are doing it on your own ?

Did it lat year. Very disappointed. THE COLORS DOWN THERE ARE VERY BEIGE, not many fish either. Most cameras won't even take pics. Check out trip adviser to see some pics I took. What a waste of money. Though the trip on the boat to get there was beautiful.
