porthole rooms

The portholes are to give you natural light...not really to give you a "view"...if you want natural light, then this will suit you just fine.

Even cabins with windows don't allow you much of a view. The cabin itself should be identical to every other!

One of our best cruises -- and we have taken a dozen -- was the cheapest cabin we could find on the old Norwegian Crown. A porthole cabin was cheaper than an inside. We had a lovely time and appreciated the natural light.

We have been in all categories from inside to balcony and like them all. We are extremely careful in selecting cabin locations. I don't know whether it matters, but most porthole cabins are up front, near the anchor.
