Reggiefan Posted September 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I have never sailed before so I welcome any suggestions on stateroom selection that can be offered. Also, the cruise under consideration is on the Marina, and I do understand that this is a new ship. My questions: 1. As far as noise, is a stateroom by a stairwell or elevators a concern? 2. Does location on a particular level really matter as far as boat movement? 3. Any other tips on stateroom selection? Thanks in advance for any help offered. Druke I Posted September 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I think it handy to be near an elevator or stairwell. Noise has not been a problem to us. Midships certainly minimizes pitching motion, and lower decks help in reducing roll. (Think of teeter-totters for pitch, and metronomes for roll.) A cabin that has cabins both above and below generally are quieter than those under the pool deck or over a show lounge. Cabins close to the bow may be noisy due to anchor chainways and bow-thrusters (which may cause vibration). Cabins close to the stern may have vibration due to propellor cavitation and stern thrusters.
Andee Posted October 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2010 I agree with everything Druke said.
