Do you have to pay for chair rental at both Sea Grapes and Royal Palms?

We are going to Grand Cayman in January and debating either Royal Palms or Sea Grapes for the day and i was just wondering if both places charge for chair and umbrella rentals?

As far as I know, yes. I believe two chairs and an umbrella at Royal Palms is $24. Not sure about sea Grape. As I've not yet been there, and this is only my research, I could be wrong;)

That's rather expensive. Could we just put a towel down? Are there any trees for shade? We only want to spend an hour or two there.

Yes, you may use your towels, there are some shady spots. There is no admission fee to any beach on Grand Cayman.

Yes, you can just put a towel down if you would like...I haven't been to Royal Palms or Sea grapes, but when I went to 7 mile beach I didn't see much shade when looking up and down the beach, but there were a few spots.

 

We went to a public beach and just rented chairs for around $5. There were a few trees that were away from the water that provided shade so we sat there when we weren't in the water. The public beach also had several "shelters" with benches and tables..We did wind up sharing one of those shelters with a few other cruisers because it started raining for about 5 minutes and we didn't want our bags and stuff to get wet.

 

Im not sure if the the beach areas you mentioned have any shelters, but you may find a tree.
