ccampbell Posted June 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2004 What do you like and why? We are trying to decide before we book our rooms on the VOS this week? Thanks
Honey's Gal Posted June 15, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2004 We had a hump cabin on the VOS, I believe it was 7618. We loved the location, near the elevators, up from the casino, down from the Windjammer, etc. My husband couldn't possibly get lost......... The views are incredible. We have booked a hump cabin for the Serenade thru the Panama Canal, can't wait. We prefer this location to an aft cabin, however there are many who prefer the aft. We do not because of the walking involved, where my DH has a disability, it is so much easier for him. Erie Dave Posted June 15, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 15, 2004 We had 9622 on Adventure and it was awesome, have the hump cabin booked for Serenade to Alaska--great location. 1999 Grandeur-Eastern 2000 Dawn Princess-Southern 2001 Grandeur-Southern 2001 Majesty-Bahamas 2002 Radiance-Southern 2002 Radiance-Alaska 2003 Conquest-Western 2004 Adventure-Southern 2005 Until Serenade to Alaska
travellady Posted June 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2004 What is the quieter location - hump or aft? We currently have neither for our upcoming VOS cruise to Canada but if one of the two opens up, I just may go for it. But, my husband wants quiet - he said please don't get us a cabin near an elevator as I don't want noise.

bingo3 Posted June 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 15, 2004 Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the hump cabin and a non-hump cabin with balcony? Thanks!
christineann Posted June 15, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2004 We were in #7310 at the hump on the Voyager. I haven't seen the other balconies so I can't compare, but I can tell you that we had absolutely no problem with noise from the elevator. We thought it was a great cabin - very convenient location. lahore Posted June 16, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Ok, I'll ask, what's a hump cabin?
christineann Posted June 16, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 16, 2004 It's the part of the ship that appears as a "bump-out" or "hump" on the Voyager class ships, around mid ship. I believe the design is to accomodate the elevators.
Folgy Posted June 16, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 16, 2004 *humps* also on Radiance class ships. Alaska (my BIG 50)Serenade of the Seas
Honey's Gal Posted June 16, 2004 #12 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Travellady, we always get a cabin near the elevator and there is absolutely no noise. There is a wall before the elevator section, and there is no more noise there than in any other hallway. We are booked in cabin 9584 on the "hump" on the Serenade in October. travellady Posted June 16, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Thanks for the info Honey's Gal. Currently there aren't any aft or hump cabins available on the VOS 8/8 sailing but I'm keeping my eye on it. Well, there is one aft cabin for 3 and RCCL won't release that to me yet because we are booked for only 2. RCCL said to keep calling because at some point they may release it for 2 - we sail in 53 days so am hoping that happens.
Honey's Gal Posted June 16, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Travellady, good luck with the cabin. I have found that the hump cabins must be becoming popular, as they have been going quickly. I was looking today for Oct 05, 4 hump cabins and there were only 3 on deck 9 (out of 6,7,8,9 and 10). I will keep looking.
