LindaCt Posted October 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2010 We have taken 2 cruises in the past during the month of January-but both were out of Puerto Rico...and the seas going to the Caribbean were calm. Want to take a cruise this winter in January as well but the ones that appeal most to us leave from Florida. Are the seas signnificantly more rough that time of year out of Florida than out of San Juan? We are prone to sea sickness. We will be going to the Caribbean. jmorgania Posted October 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2010 If there is a storm there will be rougher seas. If there is not a storm then there will be calmer seas. Same rules apply in January as they do in June. There is no clear cut rule.
cb at sea Posted October 9, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2010 There's no way to predict what the seas will be like...whenever you cross the gulfstream (which runs from the Gulf of Mexico into the Atlantic) there is a good chance of some roughness....take some Bonine or Dramamine...you'll be ok! Please advise When the fronts are coming thru it can be rough as a cob. When they are not it is like a small lake.
MiamiSpartan Posted October 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2010 All depends on the cold fronts moving through...the past 3 years have been particular active with them down here, so you would expect rougher seas...Usually it would be for a day or two...not usually the whole trip...
