hampton inn-mystery hotel

I called the Bookit customer care # to get the shuttle question cleared up to what is included. They put me on hold and got back to me saying that they will shuttle you from the airport to hotel and also from hotel to pier.

Make sure you call the Hampton Inn & Suited to confirm your reservation. On another post someone had mentioned that and I did only to find they had my reservation down for Jan instead of Feb. Even though you have a confirmation from Bookit still double check with the hotel.

I just booked this on bookit, after reading Trip Advisor reviews. Will look forward to hearing back from those of you who are staying there. When I booked it only said "complimentary area shuttle" Did any of yours specifically say shuttle to the port?

Should I confirm that now or closer to the cruise which is in Feb?

Aha! Thats it. I see where also it mentions under hotel website there is a managers reception Sun-Thurs, we'll be there on a Thursday and Friday, so should be able to go to reception on Thurs. Free drinks is always good.:)

I scoured Hampton's website and could find nothiing about a manager's reception. Where did you see that? I know they have it at Embassy Suites but haven't heard anything about them having it at Hampton. Also, when I booked the Hampton their site mentioned complementary area shuttle and also a shuttle for the airport and port. I now see nothing about the area shuttle.

LOL. I just spend 25 minutes trying to find where I saw it:confused:. I finally goggled it and came to a State of Florida.com site. I never saw this site last night, but it did say manager reception Sun-Thurs. Not that it really matters, but when I call to confirm my ressy, I will ask about it.

After you got your baggage where did you have to go to find the shuttle? How long was the ride? Thanks for your updates.

We came in on Delta. Once we walked outside we turned right and followed the blue signs that says Hotel Shuttle etc. The hotel is only about 3 or 4 miles from the airport. We took a detour to drop off some hotel guest at the train station as they were going to Maimi to get on their cruise ship today.

Once we got checked in we took a cab to the Hard Rock Casino Hotel. It is about 3 miles away. The cab fare there was $13.10.

Our hotel room is nice and clean. The tv is on the older side (not a flat screen) but, that is ok as the Yankees are loosing right now. And this is a good thing to us Red Sox fans!

WiFi is free and easy to log on to.

Rayefan, how is the room? I heard the beds are very comfortable!

I have the pillows propped up and I am using the laptop tray that is in the room. The bed is comfy and I could fall asleep just like this! I took a red eye flight to get here and haven't been asleep yet! It might be an early night....

As Name of the Game said I would call now and just before you leave. I have done that for my overnight stay before we fly plus our pre and post cruise stays. When dealing with other travel sites and not directly with the hotel I do not want to take a chance. It's worth the call for peace of mind.

Should I confirm that now or closer to the cruise which is in Feb?

11:45 for the FIRST shuttle?! Sounds like we'll be taking a taxi!

Yeas, 11:45! They have a log for all of the ships. I was a bit surprised to see such a late time to head over there. Oh, well. We might take a taxi ourselves too!

I was the one who suggested on another thread to go on line and check to make sure your hotel has your reservation when booking through discount websites. When I did this with Hampton Inn I could find no record in my name so I called this hotel. The man answering put me on hold - got off and on for a good 20 minutes. I finally hung up without getting a reply from him. I then called bookitdotcom where a very efficient woman put me on hold briefly, while she called the Hampton. Although they had received the reservation from bookit the hotel had never recorded it. Bookit gave me a new confirmation number. I then went on line and sure enough my reservation showed up.

This is the first time I ran into this so I would suggest that everyone confirm their reservation with Hampton if you have booked through a site other than the hotel's.

Oh, yah one more tidbit ~ we signed up for the FIRST shuttle to the pier for Oasis and it departs here at 11:45 !!! So,if you want to get there before that time I suggest taking a cab.

Barb:

Hopefully you haven't checked out of the hotel yet. If not, please let us know what you did about dinner last night. Was that shopping center within walking distance?

Have a great cruise - I can imagine how excited you are as I love the day I get on those ships. One week to go!
I also booked the hotel through bookit-checked with the hotel for our resverations, and it showed up, execpt it showed for 1 person instead of 2. for Febuary. Should I call bookit or the hotel?
Hey, I booked a couple of days ago thru bookit as well. Once I got the hotels Conf. number, I went to Hampton Inn website and put it in. It also showed up as 1 person instead of 4:eek: I called bookit, after a couple of minutes on hold she explained to me that the price I was seeing $93.00 on hotel site is the price bookit is paying the hotel for the room. She said they just buy the rooms, and how many people in it don't come into play with the reservation. We have 4 of us for 2 nights and paid $206, which I think is still a great deal. She said just to make sure my conf. from bookit shows the 4 people, which it does. Hm, so bookit is making more off the reservation than the hotel! Also, if I had wanted to "cheat" when I booked and not offered the info that I had 2 extra people it would have been $40. less.
I'm happy with the price I got. Also have relatives who have stayed there in the last few years and they were happy with the hotel.

Rayefan, if you read this...did you end up taking a taxi to the port? I am booked at this property in December and am curious to know the price of a taxi to the port. Anyone else out there who could give me an estimate?

Hope you have/had a wonderful trip!

So what if the hotel wants to charge for the extra person? Or does it matter?

purchased 2 rooms via bookit.com and called twice to confirm the rooms. every time I ask how much is a taxi ride to the port they always say, there is complimentary shuttle and when I say I may want to go earlier, they don't tell me a price because they don't know. I'm guessing at least $15.

I haven't taken the taxi yet (cruise isn't until February), but another poster mentioned that it would be between $20 and $30, depending on traffic. (Still not bad when you factor in the free airport shuttle and free breakfast.)
When you booked the mystery hotel on Bookit, did it say there was a BBQ area? I would like to book this if I know it is the Hampton Inn, but I don't remember a BBQ area there and I didn't see anything on the website.
This is the description for the Hampton Inn as mystery hotel

Do what you feel like in laid-back Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 5 miles from the airport with family-friendly fun, wild ocean thrills, and exquisite arts and culture. Whether you come for the Fort Lauderdale beaches or the Hollywood beaches, you`ll be astonished at the miles of spectacular coastline within minutes of the hotel.

I finally called the hotel about the free area shuttle that is listed on the site - I have seen it both on the Hampton site and also on Book-It site. The man who answered the phone said that they should remove that from their site as it isn't free. He said it is free to the airport and cruiseport but there is a charge to use it for transport in the area.
