celticlady Posted October 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2010 What are the "Baths" I am reading about? I believe I read they are in Virgin Gorda. Thanks :o
amistad Posted October 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2010 You are correct they are in Tortola. The one time we were there an oil spill had happened and they cancelled all tours that day, I still want to get there someday.
Betsy's Mom Posted October 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2010 THe Baths are a rock formation on the beach and partially in the water on Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. Google and I am sure you can get a photo. B.
VioletHorse Posted October 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2010 The Baths are a series of water eroded huge rock formations which have caves and grottoes that you "hike" through - you'll end up at a deserted beach area. It's fun and can be somewhat challenging if the water currents are strong when you're there - they were when we visited. You can't wear flip flops when doing this - either barefoot or water shoes since the rocks can be very slippery. It's a unique experience not to be found anywhere else. jsummerton Posted October 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2010 They really are unique and they were an experience I really enjoyed. I thought the hike through the boulders would be difficult -- i can't remember what the rating was for activity but it might have been 3 out of 3. I think if you're reasonably mobile and steady on your feet, it is no problem.
seashinesunshine Posted October 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2010 They are a bunch of huge boulders in and at the edge of the water. Very cool and so much fun. I am glad to see that Carnival now has an excursion to there from St Thomas. It costs too much for us, but when we went there in 2002 we really enjoyed it. Wish I could take my kids there! tigers2425 Posted October 19, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 19, 2010 We visited the Baths in Tortola a few years back. It was a little obstacle course to get there but it is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The other poster was right. The water gets a bit rough and then calms down. A very unique experience. I have some beautiful photos. I wish I knew how to post them on here. Kryza4u Posted October 20, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2010 The Baths are on Virgin Gorda, not Tortola. Try and google Devil's Bay Virgin Gorda and you'll see the amazing beach at the end of your climb through the boulders. It is not something that should be missed! pacarolinagirl Posted November 2, 2010 #9 Share Posted November 2, 2010 For those of you who did this excursion with Carnival, did you need your passport? The website says yes but the person @ the excursion desk at Carnival said no. It is a little confusing. My hubby & I have ours but our son doesn't have his yet. We're planning on getting him one but I was just curious.

I'm not sure why the Carnival employee didn't know that. It would be different if you were docked at Tortola. Bring your passports with you just in case. sdchickie Posted November 4, 2010 #11 Share Posted November 4, 2010 We really enjoyed our day at the baths. We went over from tortola on tortola charters and had a blast. If you go make sure you bring your snorkel gear, the water is the clearest I have ever snorkeled in. Here are a couple of picts. from our trip.
