What is the best choice - soda card, drink car, or on board credit?

First cruise early December. HAL - eastern carrib. So excited! So many things we have NO IDEA about.

I see we can get non alcaholic drink card, soda card or on board ship credit. What is difference, what is best? Traveling w/ 3 adults and two kids (tweens). One adult is light drinker, kids do not drink alot of soda, other two adults are water, coffee and iced tea only. We'd like everyone in our group to have a little "pocket money" so they can feel free to buy what they want. Any suggestions?

Also, is water (bottled) free? Or do we buy this w/ our drink cards too?

Thanks!

Bottled water is never free, but the ice water on the ship is included....it's fine to drink. In your cabin, the water will never run cold, but that's why you'll get ice twice daily!

I'd check the price of the packages as compared to the OBC...take whichever is more! I'd probably go with the OBC, so you could get whatever you want with it...rather than being stuck with a "card" that you won't fully use.
