Eastern beaches

Can anyone tell me the name of the beach that is across from Red Hook taking Bay road and turning left before the road goes on out to a peninsula? There are a couple of other beaches just south of the little peninsula. Know anything about them? I tried to copy a google map here, but could not figure out how to get it to paste. The beaches look like very nice long with white sand. Thanks. Marlyne

Thanks. I kept working on it and found a map which told the beaches. One is Blue Beardds Beach. Another is Cowpet and the other Vessup Bay Beach. They look like nice beaches, but I don't know about snorkeling. I will look into that now that I know the names. Marlyne

Neither Bluebeard's nor Vessup is known for snorkeling, however, you never know what you will find when you stick your head under water!;) There is some snorkeling at Cowpet, mainly the rocks off to the left as you are standing on the beach.

Thanks. That is too bad about the water quality at Vessup. It looks, on google, like a beautiful beach. Marlyne

I don't think there is anything wrong with the water quality, there just isn't any reef for your snorkeling pleasure. Vessup actually is part of the Red Hook bay area. It also is a local beach- on weekends, there can be big parties with rather loud music.
