39august Posted June 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Can anyone tell me which ship Capt. Olsen is currently on? He was on Voyager last fall and was on Mariner early this year, but apparently is no longer on Mariner. Anyone know where he is?

CaptChris Posted June 16, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Do Captains typically share ships? How does that rotation work? Nordic Empress 3/2004 4/2005 Undecided!
jezzdogg Posted June 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2004 When we were on the Mariner, he told us he would be on that ship until Captain Johnny came back, then he was going on vacation and then back to the Voyger. norm
39august Posted June 16, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted June 16, 2004 Oh, rats. I was hoping he would be on the Navigator in late August. Maybe we'll catch up with him on some future cruise. We were lucky enough to be invited to dinner with him on the Voyager last fall.
paylady Posted June 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 17, 2004 Captain Bang, on the Navigator, is also a very nice man.
njreindeer Posted September 11, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2004 Just curious: Can you tell me how people get invited to dinner with the Captain? We would have loved to have dinner with Captain Olsen last week on the Mariner. What a wonderful Captain, especially considering everything he had to deal with concerning Hurricane Frances. Would have liked the chance to tell him how much we all appreciated his frequent updates and what seemed like a boatload of compassion for our ever-changing travel plans. cruiseaholics Posted September 11, 2004 #9 Share Posted September 11, 2004 cprofits - I think Capt. Johnny will be on the Mariner during your Sept. 26th trip. I believe Capt. Olsen will be back mid-October. Regarding the Navigator, I believe I read that Capt. Bang will be aboard beginning October 2; I assume Capt. Sullivan is Master of the NV now. njreindeer - Dinner with the Captain is usually arranged by the Social Host/Hostess. Hope this helps. jrm9999 Posted September 11, 2004 #10 Share Posted September 11, 2004 Captain Olsen is currently on Mariner. I don't know for how long though.
jrm9999 Posted September 11, 2004 #11 Share Posted September 11, 2004 As a follow up, Capt Olsen said him and Capt Johnny do 14 week rotations on Mariner. So if someone could tell you the last week Capt Johnny was on, you could figure out when he will be back.
lat1 Posted September 14, 2004 #12 Share Posted September 14, 2004 Just got off Mariner on Sunday, 9/12/04 and the crew said Captain Olsen would be on the ship another month to six weeks. Hope this helps and hope you have a great trip. PS...Captain Olsen was AWESOME during the whole hurricane thing!
