Tampa Port Hotels

We are cruising out of the Tampa port in April, 2011 on Carnival. We will be flying in the day before. I have reservations at the Extended Stay North West Shore for the one night. Can anyone tell me if this is in a good area and is it a decent place to stay?

I don't know if this is a good hotel, but getting in one day early is always the way to cruise. You might want to post this question under "Florida ports" however, and then you will get all the buzz about hotels.:o:)

This is a fine area to stay. It's not a residential neighborhood, obviously, it's surrounded by other hotels, restaurants, office buildings and a shopping mall nearby. It's not necessarily a pleasant area to stroll through, especially at night, but I can't think of an option that would be better.

The Marriott Harborside is an excellent hotel and within walking distance to the port. We actually watched a Carnival ship sail out of port when we were there last March. It's a beautiful hotel, right on the water, in a very safe area. I'm not too sure about that other one.

Thanks for your reply. I will post there and see what happens. By the way, Stone Mountain is a beautiful area. Was there several years ago to visit my brother who lived in Atlanta.
