holty Posted October 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2010 What locations or websites do people use to get the best rates for cruises?
paul929207 Posted October 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2010 We are not allowed to discuss Travel Agents on Cruise Critic. So I can just say what I do. I have a spreadsheet with every discount TA that I hear of. When we are on a cruise and some one says they got a great deal, I ask for their TA. I add it to my file. holty Posted October 25, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted October 25, 2010 Drat -- can you make any recommendations or point me in a good direction (without saying the TA / Website name)?
paul929207 Posted October 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2010 Try the places advertising on CC. Ask any friends that cruise.

whciv Posted October 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 26, 2010 You will find that most of the online travel sites have cruise sections. I also visit the cruise line websites themselves. Sometimes you can find great deals directly with them. I don't personally use a TA. I too use the CC ads as cruise lines are quite familiar with CC and offer great deals here. You may first want to narrow down where you want to go before you start looking. If its price driving you then look at the major cruise lines. Good Luck!! firefly333 Posted October 26, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2010 Carnival and RCL do not allow discounting. That being said some have quit selling Carnival now who discounted and RCL they give some OBC rather than a discount. Which cruiseline you plan on using would change my advice on how to find a better deal. With Carnival, if Im booking ES I would never ever use a TA. If you book direct you can put in for any price drop yourself any time of day. If you book thru a TA always keep in mind they own your booking and if you need something it has to go thru them. holty Posted October 26, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted October 26, 2010 I'm looking for Southern Caribbean departing on April 16/17 2011 -- I have a family with two kids 8/10. I was thinking Carnival or RC but am open if there's a better option. I'm looking for a balcony if possible.
