Questions about the Coral

I have one question about the balconies on the Coral if someone may be able to help. Are the balconies on the mini suites on Caribe deck aft covered or totally un-covered or partially covered?

We had the furthest aft mini-suite cabin on Caribe - C727 on her sister ship the Island. It was uncovered, but even on our cruise to Alaska, it didn't matter to us. We spent many hours each day on our balcony and only encountered part of two days with mist or sprinkles.

Did this cruise last November, don't worry about space, there's plenty of room. One tip is on canal day go to the aft at deck 7 (i think) grab a lounger and view where you have been rather than where you are going. It's far more interesting watching ships following you through the locks. Plenty to do in the evening. Late show followed by nightclub, or MUTS is an alternative to the casino. Shore excursions not to miss, acapulco cliff divers Banana bus tour in Aruba and if you like the java the coffee plantation in costa rica is very interesting. Enjoy it whatever you do

You will probably find it easier to get on and off the the Coral than a larger ship, and also little or no problem getting a seat in the theater.

You just might find Coral the best ship that you have ever sailed on.:)

I haven't seen anyone answer your question about the gym, although I admit I skimmed the posts pretty fast. Our som, who's a musician on the Coral, uses the gym every day. He usually goes in the late morning, but he's often commented on how uncrowded the gym is whenever he goes. He's also mentioned the beautiful view from the treadmills.

Thanks for your response about the gym. Normally, I'd rush to the gym as early as possible in order to arrive before the masses. Now, I can sleep-in and have a nice leisurely breakfast each morning. Starting the morning in a calm manner will become my new way to cruise (at least for this cruise). Hopefully, the energizer bunny in me will not rear it's head and I'll not need a vacation after the cruise.

IMO, the performances in Universe Lounge, when all three stages are in full use, should never to be missed!!!

We have cruised the Coral on a Ft. Lauderdale RT Panama Canal Cruise and in Alaska. This is my list of her pluses and minuses.

 

Minuses

 

• No IC or Vines - we have enjoyed these on the Golden and the Star
  
• No Skywalkers - great views from here especially on the Grand, Golden and Star
  

Pluses

 

• The special shows for the Coral and Island three stage Universe Lounge should not be missed.
  
• The view from the front of the Horizon Court is great
  
• You can walk past the Casino without being bombarded by smoke
  
• The doors of the Churchill Lounge actually remain closed and you can walk by without being bombarded by cigar smoke
  
• Public areas are split between decks 6 (main entrance to Universe Lounge, Explorers Lounge, Photo Gallery and Casino) 7 (Princess Theater, Wheelhouse Bar, Sabatini's and Bayou Cafe) and 8 (Internet Cafe, Card Room and Library. This layout make the Coral seem even less crowded.
  
• There is a small dance floor in the Bayou Cafe with live music after 7:30 p.m. Great to have dinner with music and watch people dance.
  
• There are great balconies at the aft of Baja, Caribe and Dolphin decks for viewing sights on both sides of the ship.
  
• Has MUTS - some might say this is a minus!
  

We had no problem getting seats in the Universe Lounge or the Princess Theater 15 minutes before showtime.

 

You will love the Panama Canal!

There are also teak chairs lining the windows by the Lotus Pool - a great place to watch the sea.

Wow, these comments are great! We are booked on this beautiful ship/cruise, but not until Apr.'12. Now the wait will be even harder :eek: Will miss the IC, but Princess never lets you go hungry. Thanks to all who shared :)

What type of shows would be on 3 stages at the same time?

If you look at the deck plan of the Universe Lounge you will see the three round stages, a larger center stage and two smaller side stages. The stages all can be raised and lowered and rotated at the same time. This allows for interesting staging of shows not possible in the Princess Theater. On our Alaskan cruise there was a show the featured Adrian Zmed as the headliner in addition to the Princess singers and dancers. There was also a special show on our Panama Canal cruise in 2006.
