KathyPet Posted October 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2010 We would love to get our luggage on board as early as possible for our cruise from Barcelona. Ship does not sail until 8 PM so if we can check in and then leave the ship and spend some time exploring Barcelona before coming back on board in the early evening. Possible? When we sailed on Insignia out of Venice last Nov. the boarding time for PH I believe was at 11:00 am.
Mura Posted October 27, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2010 That's when we usually get to the ship. The cabin won't be ready but they'll take your luggage.
hondorner Posted October 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2010 If you're talking about really early, like 9:000 AM, it's possible not everyone will be off the ship yet, from the previous cruise. There probably won't be anyone there to check you in before the time that will be in your documents, never any earlier than 11 AM that I know of. Even if you show up early with your luggage, hoping to leave it with a porter to be put on the ship, it's very possible there will not be anyone there to take it any earlier. While the ship does not sail until 8 PM, there will likely be a limit to how late you can check in, and you must be on board no later than 2 hours before sailing, or 6 PM in your case. potterhill Posted October 28, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 28, 2010 We have always sailed in the cheap seats and check in whenever we get to the ship. On at least one occasion it was around 11. They seem to take people as they arrive, at least in our experience. The two times we have booked a higher category we have had to cancel. Guess there's a message there somewhere! LOL! On our last cruise from Barcelona we checked in and went for a stoll up las Ramblas. Didn't realize there was a 2 hour deadline so we missed the muster drill. Every other time those who arrived late did it at another time but that trip they said no do-overs. We made sure we knew where to go, but I was surprised there was no mandatory drill. KIWP Posted October 28, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2010 Normal PH check-in is 11A. We always check-in and leave our bags in our cabin and go off to do whatever we want. Priority cabin bags are delivered first and left in front of your door. If you see your Butler and tell him what you're doing, he'll put the bags in the cabin for you. (Butler's name and calling info is found by the phone on the wall). Please listen to everyone's advice about "on-board" time and double check with Reception prior to leaving the ship. Embarkation day is very busy, and you don't want to have problems from the first day. Enjoy the cruise. "O" is fantartic.
