spacewoman Posted February 15, 2015 #151 Share Posted February 15, 2015 One thing to add The port at Tortolla is tendering. We were there in October and were told they are remodeling the pier. It looked like a bit of a project so I would not be surprised in October of this year when we sail again that it will be temdering

OceanBlue123 Posted March 2, 2015 #153 Share Posted March 2, 2015 The main dining room (Grand Pacific) is open during embarkation. The buffet becomes extremely crowded (especially with everyones carry-ons). Since it has been a few years since the above was posted, does anyone know if the main dining room is still open for lunch on embarkation day? Yes, was there earlier this month and Grand Pacific is open for lunch on embarkation until about 2.
aquarianne11 Posted March 2, 2015 #155 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Great thread! Our favorite on our Gem cruise was the Blue Lagoon. I believe that's been changed to O' Sheehan's.

wezie Posted March 7, 2015 #158 Share Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) Hi. I will be on the Gem in a few months in a group of 14. I have a few questions that I would appreciate any help. :-) - Do they accept traveler's checks I the casino? - Do mini suites get any type of priorities or just the regular suites? - What types of spa specials do they have throughout the week? - What is the tapas bar. Do they still have that, if so, any details? - Also,, how about the crepe station, do they still have that? If so, where? - Will 14 of us be able to eat dinner together every night in the Magenta? - What is the Great Outdoors? Is that the buffet? - How much is bowling? Rare Turtles06 Posted April 18, 2015 #160 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Hi. I can't answer all of your questions, but: Mini-suites are not "suites" at all in terms of priorities or perks. They are really "deluxe balconies." NCL really should re-name them to avoid this confusion. (Your question gets asked many times on here.) The Great Outdoors is an outdoors buffet just aft of the Garden Cafe (the main buffet). When you ask about all 14 of you being able to eat together at Magenta, do you mean at the same table? I doubt you'll find a table that large in either of the MDRs. When you board, you may want to speak to the Maitre d' and see if you can set something up. (But do you really want to eat dinner *every* night in Magenta?) What's a traveler's check? :p Have a great trip!
OceanBlue123 Posted April 18, 2015 #161 Share Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) The Crepes are served in the buffet at dinner time. I wish they would have served them during the later hours too, but it was only during dinner hours on our cruise. Bowling was a lofty $9 per game, though they occassionally ran 2 for 1 specials. The Daily listed times that bowling is open each day, and any special prices. Edited April 18, 2015 by OceanBlue123
abbyar Posted April 18, 2015 #162 Share Posted April 18, 2015 I have to agree with starting a new thread - although many of these tips are good, the CD and many other people have long since left the Gem. It's best that others' opening this thread aren't confused by posts from 4-5 years ago.
