Safes on Zaandam

How do the room safes lock on the Zaandam? Are they electronic or credit card swipe? Thanks.

I seem to recall that that those safes on the Zaandam locked with any credit card with a readable strip on the back. We used our Safeway Club card. (lol):D

Other ships have had self programmable combination locks - and I think the Statendam had a huge piece of plastic with holes - too big to fit in a wallet.

Can you just use your room key?

No, the room key is one that will not work. We usually use an expired AAA card for ours. That way if the card is dropped or something happens, we haven't really lost a valuable card.

Statendam was "normal" 4 digit personal code in September. Any chance that Zaandam has also changed to that?

I used the room key on the Zaandam.....worked fine.
