grandmacruise Posted November 11, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2010 How do the room safes lock on the Zaandam? Are they electronic or credit card swipe? Thanks.
Smart 4-2 Posted November 11, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2010 I seem to recall that that those safes on the Zaandam locked with any credit card with a readable strip on the back. We used our Safeway Club card. (lol):D Other ships have had self programmable combination locks - and I think the Statendam had a huge piece of plastic with holes - too big to fit in a wallet. CruiseNut24 Posted November 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2010 Can you just use your room key?
Sage Posted November 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2010 No, the room key is one that will not work. We usually use an expired AAA card for ours. That way if the card is dropped or something happens, we haven't really lost a valuable card.

deserttraveler Posted November 13, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 13, 2010 Statendam was "normal" 4 digit personal code in September. Any chance that Zaandam has also changed to that?
