Shelbyjane56 Posted November 13, 2010 #26 Share Posted November 13, 2010 When we were on the Dream last summer we had a lot of wine as it was a week long wedding with friends and family for our son and now daughterinlaw. We had wine every night and never had to pay a corking fee the entire cruise!
SMSACE6 Posted November 13, 2010 #27 Share Posted November 13, 2010 There was a time that I wasnt sure about whether you could or not, but as I grow older, I guess I am getting more "assertive":D Never did this before, but on my most recent cruise on the Carnival Freedom, there was a program that was being "tested" I believe, in the casino. If or when you achieved 1500 pts you were provided with a card that entitled you to free drinks in the casino for the rest of the cruise. For me, that occurred on my third day of an 8 day cruise. :) Also as the times change with regards to smuggling aboard alcohol, I have discontinued my previous habits of smuggling aboard a little extra of my favorite libations, as I would hate to have them confiscated, and dont want to take the chance. Therefore this card that I got on day three was a nice little perk! So while I went to the show after dinner, or elsewhere, I always stopped at the casino later, played a bit, and ordered my nightcap, and then called it a night. I took a "nightcap" from the casino back to my room each evening!:D I did sleep very well btw!:)
suebee53 Posted November 13, 2010 #28 Share Posted November 13, 2010 We always bring wine on board with us then request wine glasses along with our morning coffee from room service. We pour ourselves a glass and take it to dinner. Works great!
blindrid Posted November 15, 2010 #29 Share Posted November 15, 2010 I like to get a bucket of beer & tell them to only open one, I have an opener for the rest, and take any leftovers to the cabin. I've never had anyone open more than one. Do you find that normal? I've had more experience on other lines and they normally had an opener attached to the bucket. addicted to cruising Posted November 15, 2010 #30 Share Posted November 15, 2010 I enjoy a cocktail or three in my cabin before dinner. It's relaxing. Its our first time in a balcony room and you can bet I will be doing alot of drinking out there. I cant wait to have a cocktail while watching the sea go by.... GlendaleCruiser Posted November 16, 2010 #32 Share Posted November 16, 2010 We bring wine on board with us and will walk around the ship with it or even take a glass with us to dinner. Our waiter on the Dream told us we weren't allowed to do that (bring our wine from our room that we had brought onboard) since they sell wine in the dining room by the bottle and glass. We actually had bought the Sangria at one of the bars onboard, which is allowed, according to him.
!David! Posted November 16, 2010 #33 Share Posted November 16, 2010 Should we bring an opener? Or, is there one in the cabin? Bring a few. Just in case any get gaffled. You will need one by the pool for the bucket of beers.

On NCL, they just gave us a promotional Bud Light one with a bucket when we boarded, that one is not permanently affixed to my backpack. It does make me a lot of friends by the pool also.
