Hi,

Will be on the Azura in a few weeks and embarking in Barbados on Friday and leaving Barbados on Saturday. We were thinking of going to St Lawrence Gap for a few hours, but just wondered if anyone knew how far it was and how long it would take to get there?

Thank you

Hi puppy,

Stayed for 2 weeks at Escape at the Gap last year. Super little hotel on Dover beach.

Not much going on during the day as most of the activity is centered around the hotels/appartments.Not as much nightlife as I expected, but excellent floodlit 20/20 cricket just opposite the Escape.Matches start late though and go on into the early hours!!!!

Blue bus takes 20mins and costs 1/2 Barbadian dollars, but you have to go into Bridgetown Bus Station.

If you like beaches with lots of activity, try The Boatyard(see website). Cabs run regularly from the terminal or you can walk there in about 20mins. Entrance is 20US dollars but you get a voucher which covers so many drinks at the bar. Popular with ships' crews and those wanting a a lively day at the beach

Hi, my brother in law lives in Barbados and have visited 14 times, we are sailing from Barbados in March on Azura. Agree The Gap is mainly bars and restaurants, there is a small beach there. The port is on the west coast, the Gap is on the South Coast. You could pick up a bus from the bus station in Bridgetown (walkable from Port), or take a taxi. From the port you could walk to a couple of beaches, Pebbles Beach is situated the other side of Bridgetown, or jump in a taxi, the other beach is situated to the left of the port, walk up the highway, you will see Oval Kensington stadium in front of you, the beach is at the top of the highway, the Malibu Beach bar is situated there (sorry forgotten name of beach). My favorite beach on the island is Miami Beach, its quite a way in a taxi (just past Oustins). Also the districts of Hastings and Christchurch have some lovely beaches, again on the south coast. The beaches on the west coast are very small (having been corroded by the weather) over the past few years. However the best beach at the moment is at Fitts Village, it is walkable but quite a way, taxi would be better. If you started at Fitts village, walk north along the beach and it will take you as far as a village called Derricks. Further up the coast is the lovely beach at Sandy Lane, really worth a visit. Have a fantastic time.
