runner15km Posted November 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2010 Just back from GC on Nov. 09. We walked to the Sunset House for some shore snorkeling and had a great time. We had our own mask and snorkel but wanted to rent a vest for a few hours. The attendant let us use two vests for free.:) We were the only 2 people there from the cruise ships and there were 6 ships in port.
survalia Posted November 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2010 Walked? How far was it and how long did it take you to walk there? We will be diving with them in January.
runner15km Posted November 15, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted November 15, 2010 From the tender pier about 1 mile in about 20 minutes. They were giving lessons to divers who were staying at the resort. Very friendly staff.:)

tiggrbaby Posted November 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2010 So they don't care if you just walk in? Can you use their beach chairs? Restrooms? Do they have a spot to get drinks/snacks, or should you carry in? Thanks! Going Christmas week, so figure we want a spot that won't be packed for the few hours we will be there. Capt_BJ Posted November 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2010 I've been staying and diving at Sunset House since the mid 80's. Their dive entry is open to outside divers so long as they rent tanks from Sunset House. Snorkelors have always been welcome in my experience. There is no beach, this is 'iron shore' country. Right on the water is 'My Bar', a VERY popular place with the locals with lot's of tables and a good lunch menu. The bar/restr' has restrooms af course, and there is an outside shower for divers to rinse off. In my experience if I was drinking and lunching and asked if it was OK to take a dip in the pool it was always OK ... I've never seen it crowded except immediately after Sunset's morning dive trips return . . . http://sunsethouse.com/
