Hey Denver!! Want To Cruise From Galveston??

As of today, Frontier Airlines will be flying three non-stops into Houston's Hobby Airport, and discontinuing service to Intercontinental (Bush). You now have an alternative to Southwest. Hobby is about 20 minutes from the Galveston cruise terminal (as opposed to 90 from Bush ... not to mention a cost of almost $100 each way) and shuttles are readily available.

Right now, the Carnival Conquest (year-round) and RCI Voyager of the Seas (November to March) sail from Galveston. Next year, the Carnival Magic and Navigator of the Seas will replace the CC and VOS. It's a nice port, with hardly any of the chaos usually found in the Florida venues ... if you arrive after 1:00 you should be able to board immediately.

Just another option ...

There's no way on God's green earth that you can get from Hobby to the Galveston cruise terminal in 20 minutes short of perhaps going in a helicopter!!!:D

A-MEN! Even with no traffic on I-45, you still have to cover about 40 miles. Plan on 45 minutes to an hour in the car.

IAH to Galveston tacks on an extra 30 - 45 minutes to the above.

Besides, Galveston should be more than just a place to jump on the ship... come in the night before and enjoy the island!

Sorry for the typo ... 40 minutes is what I meant to write. Galveston is indeed a lovely place to spend a day before and/or after a cruise, Hurricane Ike notwithstanding.

We live close to Galveston, but have family in Denver. They've had no problem whatsoever with Southwest ... but it's always good to have options. I just checked the schedule, and all three flights would require an overnight stay prior to any Sunday cruise ... the earliest arrives at 3:00, the latest at 10:30. Fares are competitive.
