MAIN OR LATE DINNER

Recommended Posts

Do you think you can be too rushed to get to early dinner. We are booked on AOS 12th Sept a port each day (5) and last day at sea. I thought with tours etc on island, returning to boat, maybe an activity and then dinner, it may be best to go for the late sitting? Any comments appreciated

I prefer late seating for many of the reasons you stated. My DH however, prefers early seating. His reasoning is that once he's finshed dinner at late seating, then he's ready for some sleep, soooo we've switched to early and usually make it to dinner most nights. I would go with late seating. With all the ports I feel it is just too rushed to do early seating...

Have had early seating on all but one of our cruises and never missed a dinner so far. We had early seating on the cruise you're taking and had no problem making dinner on time.
We always do our shore excursions in the morning, and save the afternoon for shopping or sightseeing.
Like your DH, I prefer to get the meal over with early and leave the rest of the night for entertainment.

I've only had late seating and I enjoy it. I like not having to rush to get ready for dinner (well, except pre-dinner show days...) Get back from a busy day, rest, relax a bit before getting ready for dinner and the night time activities.

cya@sea - we're the same way....end up eating way too much because we'll get a snack at the buffet and still eat dinner also and then a late snack after the late show.

We have the main seating. Leaves the rest of the night for entertainment. On days of ports, if we don't make it in time, we will just go to the buffet. Probably won't feel like dressing anyway after a long day.

We've done both, but on AOS you have to be back onboard by 5:00 each day, so we found there was plenty of time to shower and have a drink before the main seating. Last summer they did the late at 9:00 and that would have been way too late for us. I think it's 8:30 now, but even so, we enjoyed having time after dinner to see the show and let dinner digest before going to bed.

I think that will go for us as well. I can't imagine staying up past 10pm (I typically wake at 5am), so having dinner that doesn't end until 10pm is inconceivable!

We always do the late seating. However, we find one drawback is that we are too stuffed to partake of the midnight buffet.... last time, we didn't even sample, but got lots of pics of the beautiful presentation before they were savaged.
