Need Advice For Getting To Port Canaveral from Orlando Int. Airport

We are flying in from Orlando Intl. airport and looking for cheap transportation. One cab company said $105 for the trip. Hoping you seasoned cruisers can suggest a cheaper way!

We've done this several times, mostly by rental car: drop it off close to the pier and take a taxi to the ship...this will typically cost one-way around $50. We've also used a towncar service, which can be reasonable if you book it roundtrip. This link talks about car rental agencies in Pt. Canaveral:

We are cruising out of port canaveral and flying into MCO as well, after looking for the cheapest solution we decided to just rent a car as it is cheaper, and plus you have wheels. Drop off at the office in Cape Canaveral and they shuttle you to the ship... if you rent for the return they will pick you up at the dock and take you to your rental car. At least avis does.. I believe all of them do down there.

That is what we always do as well.

 

One thing that is a problem though.

When you return, you may have to wait awhile for the car rental shuttle bus. Waiting is not the problem. The problem arises when you get to the shuttle waiting area, you may have to wait with a lot of people. Let's say you are the 3rd family to get there.... the people that come after you are not always polite enough to ensure you get on the bus since you've been waiting the longest. You may have to assert yourself in this situation.

We are leaving Saturday and renting a car from MCO to the port hotel-cost-$45-But on the way back instead of the hassle of all the shuttle rides with luggage we are using a towncar service -VIP Limo-cost $80 for three-For some reason the rate for a car rental on the return trip was higher by $20

We used Sunshine State Transportation, they may not be cheaper than renting a car but who wants the hassle of returning the car and then waiting for transportation to the ship. Call 1-888-437-2826 ask for Hector, We only needed one way so it was $70.00 for both of us. Our driver even stopped at Walmart so I could get wine and soda. Good luck

Any good suggestions for a solo traveller???

 

....staying at MCO area hotel the night before and after cruise, found one shuttle service for $50 R/T.....the other options seem pretty pricey for one person.
