Stole the Millie on Skyauction!

I am sure this is too good to be true. I just won an auction on Skyauction for a week on the Millie (Thanksgiving)for- are you ready? $385 per person plus port charges and fees of $170 (inside, but can upgrade to outside for an adfditional $140- I'd rather save it and go on a nice excursion! Don't need a porthole that badly....)
Please tell me I didn't get scammed- at those prices I can afford a back to back!

The only thing I've heard, and I believe it was on RCCL, is that often it was a deal where you had to be over a certain age (50- 60-something?) and/or a resident of a certain state...and when the people got to the dock and did not meet those requirements were not allowed to board. But if not, wow, yes you did get a fabulous deal...I would lock in a cabin number ASAP.

I won a Skyauction 6-night cruise on the QE2 a couple of years ago, and everything went just fine. I wound up in a very fine cabin which normally would have gone for $1000 per person-double occupancy; I paid $800 and occupied the room as a single traveler ... when my tablemates heard about that, they were mighty jealous!

You can get great price at the auction, but the downside is that you have to pay upfront, and for whatever reason you can not cancel the trip.

For $94 I was able to buy trip insurance that covers cancellation for any reason.
I am so excited!!!
Its the big 4-0 for me that week so I really am going to try to treat myself with a back to back- its something I've always wanted to do.
I live in the Ft Lauderdale area so I'll run home, do laundry, and get back on!!

Congratulations!!!
I checked out all of my "cheapie" sites and the best inside fare I could find was $766.11 on bestpricecruises.com. That was for a cat 12 with all taxes, etc. (Most other sites were up around $810)

That's a good price. I don't want to burst your bubble or anything....but.....at that time of year, just about every line is offering a 7 dayer, INCLUDING port charges and govt fees for in the $500's, and that's what you're paying. In fact, I got a mailer yesterday for a 7-dayer, Nov or Dec on HAL for $489 including all the fees and taxes

As momrox1 said above, it looks like you can not pick up a cat 12 room like that for much under 800 bucks. SOunds like a great deal to me. What counts is if you are happy how much you paid. It seems you are so good for you. What is the site you found? The wife and I will be on the Mille. for our 1 year anniversary.

Marco- I checked out other cruises for better prices- but I loved the Millie, and can't wait to sail her again.

While I personaly have not been lucky enough to win anything on skyauction I've met several people on differnt cruises who bought either cruises or flights there and everyone was very happy. No problems at all. You go girl and enjoy your 40 in the Martini Bar with a Limon' for me!

On our last cruise I got to talk with two different couple who had gotten their tickets from SkyAuction.com, we were on a 11 day cruise, they had excellent rooms, and I asked if they had upgraded and they told me NO. One couple had gone on several cruises, no problems what so ever. I will find out soon, we are taking a 12 day cruise in December 2004, two people for what I paid for one last year. Yes, you pay up front, but it's paid for and you have the option of insurance. Go for it.
