Med Cruise on Splendour - Questions

We are doing an 11-night Med cruise on the Splendour of the Seas in May (out of Venice). I had a few questions that I can't seem to find the answers to:

1) We are staying in Venice at the Hotel Arlecchino which I understand is close to where the ship docks. How do you get to the ship? I've read about a "people mover" but can't seem to find out what it is or how it works.

) I assume the ship uses USD. We are going to be using Euros in Italy and Greece and different currencies in Turkey and Croatia. Will the ship convert USD to Euros and Lira, etc. or is there a better option?

The "People Mover" is tram like operation that runs from the Piazalle Roma to the area of the cruise terminal. Try this:

But if you get to the Piazalle Roma, RCI will also have shuttle buses which I think are free [or very nominal in cost]. The downside of the shuttle buses is that they only run when full so it might require a longer wait. You can also get land taxis at the Piazzale Roma which, while more expensive will get you right to the terminal door very quickly. I don't know where your hotel islocated, but water taxis are also available but quite expensive [say $100 a trip]. There are also water buses [the Vaporetto] that are reasonable and will get you to the Piazzale Roma, but may be a pain to haul luggage around on.

You are correct, the ship runs on USD, but is essentially cashless. All of your on-board purchases and expenses will be added to you account via your sea pass [also your room key] and settled at the end of the cruise.

We obtained Euros, Croatian Kunas and Turkish Lira before we left for the cruise. I think Croatia will take Euros so the Kunas may not really be necessary. You can get these currencies on board, but you will probably get a better exchange rate if you get them in advance.

The ship will convert other currencies for you, or you can use your ATM card on shore. Or you can order a few from your local bank before you leave. There are costs to all three, but they are all viable options. There is a bank in the old part of Dubrovnik, if that's where you're headed, that converts as well (their ATM was broken).

As for a people mover, I don't know of one and don't know the location of that particular hotel, sorry.

I still have lots of Lira and Kuna because the shops in Turkey and Croatia where more than happy accepting Euros. They always gave me the Euro price when I asked how much.
