dmk Posted December 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2010 Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Curious? It has great reviews on TripAdvisor as to rooms, location and breakfast. What throws me off is it is only a 1* hotel...What does that mean???
riffatsea Posted December 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2010 In Europe, stars are given by the number of extra amenities the hotel offers. For example an elevator,a bar, a restaurant, a pool, etc. all will add extra stars to a hotel. Few stars do not mean that the hotel is dirty or anything like that. It is in a good location and seems to be well liked by the people who have stayed there. I don't see *level listed on the site so where did you see that it was a 1* hotel?? riffatsea Posted December 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2010 Hi , When I book hotels I read Trip Advisor AND then I also read venere.com Venere is a hotel web site used a lot in Europe. They also have reviews but UNlike Trip Advisor the reviews on Venere are only collected after folks have used them to book and STAY at the hotel. Trip Advisor has no way to know for sure if the folks who want to write reviews have really stayed in the hotel soooo I compare the reviews on both sites to get the "real" scoop. Here is the Hotel Curious on Venere. BTW they have it listed as a 2** hotel. http://www.venere.com/hotels/barcelona/hotel-curious/
riffatsea Posted December 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2010 HI again, Your question prompted me to do a bit of extra research. I learned that in Spain a 2** hotel has: an elevator ensuite(in your own room private) bathrooms reception desk inside same building(you don't have to walk outside to another area to reach your room) I hope this helps.
